MTV is becoming quite the source of gaming information.
They had an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo of America, and the subject of GoldenEye appearing on the Virtual Console came up. For those that do not know: Rare, who made Goldeneye, is now owned by Microsoft and Activision also owns the rights to the Bond video game license. Reggie says that Nintendo would "love to see it [on the Virtual Console], so we're exploring all the rights issues."

Hopefully Microsoft doesn't get tight-fisted over this particular IP, even if they were planning on releasing it for Xbox Live Arcade. After all, they like Nintendo, and GoldenEye is an important part of Nintendo's history.

I originally saw it on Joystiq.
