Which is the best EASports NHL game? Or do you like the 2K series or the Gretzky NHL Series?

2K sports for the freakin' win.

Ice Hockey for the NES is still the best though.

EA Sports NHL '94 has never been matched.

1. NHL '94 - EA Sports
2. NHLPA '93 - EA Sports
3. Faceoff 2001 - 989
4. NHL '98 - EA Sports
5. NHL '97 - EA Sports
6. Blades of Steel - Konami

Those are the ones I've played enough to have firm opinions about.

Quoted for truth.

I have NES Ice Hockey, and NHL 2K4 (the one with Roenick on the cover). I also had EA sports NHL '94 for the PC (back in the day of the old 486).

I haven't played the most recent NHL 2K7, or EA Sports NHL 2007, so I wouldn't know which is better.

The ones I've played are:

Ice Hockey (NES)
Blades of Steel (NES)
Wayne Gretzky Hockey (NES)
NHL '94 (SNES, PC)
Stanley Cup Hockey (SNES)
NHL 2K4 (PS2)

yep, huge gap in gaming consoles there :p

I've always been an EA Sports fanatic, and have '97-'02 for PC and NHL '03-'06 for Game Cube, and now that I have a "strong" PC again, I got NHL '07 for PC, and have been extremely impressed with the graphics and gameplay thus far!

I've played NHL games 94-99, 2000-2002 and 2004. So far my favorite NHL game is NHL 2001. I thought that one improved quite a lot from NHL 2000 and was fun to play. In NHL 2002, the goals were way too luck-based, I never played NHL 2003 since I heard it was quite bad and I didn't like NHL 2004's system at all (in the PC version). I haven't really played any NHL games after that.
