Nothing wrong with a bit of love~

You could always just buy him a new CD and pretend it's the old one, if you really don't wanna tell him ^_^ Providing that you have the moneys :3

Was it damaged before, and if so, how badly?

Would it be possible to say it was like that when you found it?

Does your dad believe in aliens?

Would he believe you if you blamed aliens?

Does the CD still work?

If the answer is no to all of the above (or yes, badly to the first), or if you just want to do the right thing, then

Tell him you were at the library and it scratched his CD.

Otherwise make up some elaborate lie about aliens storming the library in a futile attempt to erradicate the written word from you area and his poor CD was caught in the crossfire.

And

Tell him you were at the library and it scratched his CD.

Unless it was autographed by the band or something, I doubt he will care that much.

I'm confused. Perhaps you could confuse him too and then he will forget about being mad.

Well after you explain that it was an accident and you didn't mean for it to happen, he shouldn't be too angry =] Just tell him you're sorry (only if you mean it!) and that if he wants you to replace it you will.

You must destroy him, the library, and the CD.

Leave no trace that this ever happened.

Nightmare of darkness, please only post once in a row :) If you find out that you have more than one post to answer at once, feel free to use the x-quote button to put them all in one tidy reply, or use the edit button if you need to add more information after you have posted:)

Amazon lists several instances of that cd, so it is still available. If you don't have the means tobuy online (try asking your mother first) then offer to give him the money necessary to buy a new copy, but wrap it up as a present first.

A CD is not as important as a child's love to a parent, so if you go to your dad with humility and ask forgiveness, how can he deny you? :]

Is it still useable? Just because it's scratched don't mean it don't work anymore, you should see my Starcraft disc.

Oh, I'd yell at my kids for that. But you can buy "Thick as A Brick" on Ebay or download all the tracks from itunes (I think). Just burn him a new CD.

PS: I have the vinil disc (yeah, I'm that old) so if you get really desperate PM me

If you tell him the truth and make an attempt at recovering the music through ebay or itunes or some sort, what's the worst that could happen?

Right there it is. Tell your dad the CD was damaged, then buy him that one. Alls well.

Jethro Tull? Oh dear. Tell him you were doing him a favour, and buy him a CD by Britney Spears instead.

Or just tell him what happened. It sounds like an honest mistake - it's not like you were doing anything vindictive.

Accidents happen. Just get him some type of Jethro Tull box set for Christmas and I'm sure he'll forget about it.

Ian Anderson (The leader of Tull) has some nice new CDs on Napster and iTunes. Bring your dad to the 21st century ;)
