Name the things that always happen in Final Fantasy games...

I can name 3

1. You get thrown in jail...at least once if not more

2. The sweetest guy, non main-char, always dies

3. The final boss either doesnt die the first time you beat him or changes into some huge monster thingy

4. If there is a guy named Cid.

Off the top of my head I can't think of a single time you get thrown in jail in FFVI, or IV for that matter, but I think you'd be about right for pretty much every game since VII.

Anyway, you generally have some sort of turn based battle system in every one. Wish I could think of a better one than that right now...

Well chocobos...some sort of summons...a game that seems endless at the beginning, and you wish it were endless by the end...Some really cool bad guy that you wish was good, just so you can play him...and that fact that it has double digits in the series number when it comes out...!!

When heated discusions among the fans appear about the game, saying it's not like they wanted/expected it, or the oposite side shouting that it's perfectly fine. When this happens, the game is obviously a FF.

You get a scene of someone falling from a height (wether they are pushed, fall, or jump varies)

And there is a title with the words Final Fantasy in big fancy letters

Can you give some examples for your 1 and to because I don't see that often, especially 2.

with 1 in XII, X, and VIII you get thrown in jail, but that's it I don't recall that in VII, or IV.

It's been a while since I played VII so I might be off, but I think in Shinra HQ Cloud and co. get caught and put into cells. They're able to break out when all the guards are killed...or something like that o_O

Ok I have another one....

You know its a FF when:

...you wake up one morning and realized 6 months of your life went by and you don't remember wtf happend...

Then you look on your floor and find a video game case and your memory card has a save file with the game beat...

Then you smacked yourself in the head and realize you just wasted the last six months of your life using all your free time to get all the stuff on the most recent FF.

Nah, see in VII you get thrown into Shinras Jail cells. and the Jail at the Gold Saucer...and in 4 you have the ability to lock your self in a jail cell for a few minutes of fun.

There is always a secondary villain, who you fight throughout most of the game, but who is defeated before you reach the final battle against the main boss.

When Biggs and Wedge show up with no relation to X-Wings.

Contains odd pom-pom sporting critters who say "kupo".

Contains giant ostriches that look cool and are usually capable of insanely good transportation.

Well lets see

1 - When there are Fire, Bolt, Ice and Cure spells
2 - Masamune
3 - Cid since FF 2
4 - Airship and boat
5 - Theres almost always an optional superboss stronger than the main villain
6 - Chocobos since FF 2
7 - Flare and Holy (Nuke and Fade in the original FF)
8 - Incredible plot twist near the end
9 - Bahamut (although bahamut wasnt in FF 2 for some reason)
10 - Shiva, Ifrit and Odin since FF 3
11 - Final area is always a really weird place with super monsters
12 - You can finish the game below level 10
13 - Too many random encounters
14 - Invincible boss you have to fight several times throughout the game because even if you beat him the battle ends with some fancy move (Beatrix and Kuja, Edea, Ultima weapon, etc)
15 - There is a 9999 cap on damage and character hp, 999 cap on mp (removed in the latest ones), exception being ff1 with 999 hp cap and spell charges maxing at 9
16 - Save points
17 - Gil/GP as currency

Thats it for now

When you have to save the world, of course!

Three times, in fact. They were to be executed after the Weapons started rampaging too.
