I'm not entirely sure, seeing as I don't recall having gotten any electrum, but you can probably sell it. Most of the stuff that you don't want to sell is eluded to explicitely like the jaya stick at Jahara, and.... others that I can't think of right now.

As far as I know only the Jaya stick and the Great Serpent Skin hold any significance for side quests.
