ther are a few things added to later versions of the games that earlier versions don't get. i guess it's to make up for the waiting period. for example in ffx, norht americans didn't hav dark aeons or penance but the european version did

I'm in the UK and bought my FF7 second-hand, and I fought both Ruby and Emerald Weapons. So yeah, the EU version of FF7 has them in it.

All my versions of FF7 has them. Original PAL release, Platinum PAL release, and the PC version.

what point of the game are you at? do you actually know where to find emerald weapon?

i have the PAL version and it has the weapons.

As soon as you get the submarine, you are able to find Emerald. Just look around underwater. I don't exactly remember what triggers the appearance of Ruby, but I know he's around in the 3rd disc in the Golden Saucer desert.

I'm from Europe and I was able to fight them both or is this a trick question?

Yes we DO!

Okay, okay, i get the point already. Only, it says in the official guide that "the two creatures added to the american version....", and it doesn't say anything about them being in the Pal version. That's what caused the doubt.

MJN SEIFER
12-18-2006, 06:36 PM
That's cause the Official Guide is American.

jammi567
12-18-2006, 07:53 PM
And? it should've mentioned that they were also in the PAL version as well.

i thought PAL was the european version, which was released after the north american version (which to my memory is NTSC rite?)

Pal is generally released loooong after the versions in the US and Japan. so....

His new sentence started with "so", but was not finished. I'm curious about what the rest of the sentence was meant to be, because without a conclusion his post doesn't add much to the thread :D. Congrats for misunderstanding though! ;)

The US strategy guide was published in August '97. The PAL game wasn't released until November '97. Not only that, but another guide was produced to cover the UK and Europe, so perhaps the writers didn't feel it was necessary to include details about the PAL release in a guide written for NTSC.

You're kidding me. there's a guide for the PAL versions. the one i brought was for the american versions. why the hell were they allowed to do that (rant, rant.....) (please don't reply to that).

I think what the guide means is the wepons where added to the amercan version and stayed in the PAL version, and they thought what they said was good enoughth
I have that guide and i thought the same way untill i got to thr underwater part:mog:

What I want to know is... why? Why add these monsters in the English (and subsequently, French, German and Spanish) translation of the game?

why not?

Because they supposed to be there in the first place. They just didn't have the time. That's why every version aside from the original, including international, had them in it.

I've fought all the Weapons in the PAL version.

Come on, for the first Final Fantasy game to be released in Europe you think Square were going to swindle us and not give us an original version of the game? Of course you can fight the Weapons!

True it took a while to get to the UK, but that's how the industry works.

Well I don't understand the question really. Both Ruby and Emerald weapon appears in the EU version. BOTH Pal and Original. Nothing to speak 'bout. Now, you go home and think about if you really have come far enough to make the weapons appear..

Hey Jammi!

I've beat both Ruby and Emerald weapon in the PAL version. I too suspect you just hadn't gotten far enough for them to appear. That's the only explanation because they're there alright.
Have you seen them now?

jammi567

Trust me, i had. I guess i hadn't seen them because i wasn't specifically looking for them.

LOL, good old BradyGames guides. :rolleyes2 Though I've never had the misfortune to own one, I've heard rotten things about them.

Ruby Weapon is triggered after you finally kill Ultima Weapon (the final battle near/at Cosmo Canyon)
