For an old school FF fan, is III a must own?

Btw, i dont own a DS although with the release of III i am really contemplating getting one ;)

But im an old schooler, got my start from the first day FF was released on NES up til now...and im a big fan of the classic turn based random battle setup.

Is III a must own? Hows the story, music etc?

Well, the story isn't all that big, but the gameplay substitutes that. The music is one of the best in the series, imo. The characters are alright too. So yeah, this is a must get. Get it and you will love it. The best REALLY REALLY old school game.

Try thinking of Final Fantasy 1. Now make the game bigger. Add more arships, an expanded plot, and many more character classes. Now take all the nostalgic feelings you have ever gotten from the old FF's. Wrap all that up in a shiny 3D package, and you have Final Fantasy III DS.

The music is pretty good. It still has the old FF feel, but also a newer twist to it. The graphics are downright amazing, especially the intro FMV. The story is about what you would expect from an NES era rpg: It's simple. It still, however, has its small twists and turns, and if you enjoyed FF I and FF IV, you should enjoy FF III.

Also you want the think about how the class system works in my oppinion its awesome and adds a lot of replay ability. the downside/upside of the game though is the kind of lowered the difficulty factor. dont get me wrong its not easy but still its not as hard as 1 or 2 were and you dont need to grind as much

yeah, it was pretty easy, but It has soooo many classes to level up, that even after you beat it, you still have soo much more to do.

If you're an old-school FF fan and you have a DS, I'd say FFIII DS is definitely worth getting. However, if you don't own a DS console, I'm not sure. I'm interested in the game myself, but I don't have a DS, so I'll need to think what I'll do about getting the game.

FF CC RoF, FF XII: RW, (the GBA ports), FFTA2 and maybe DQ IX if you like DQ are some other reasons as to why a DS is an interesting buy for (RPG) fans. It's a handheld well worth the money, IMHO. But oh well, so many things are worth buying. ;)
