I have Adobe Photoshop elements

I know how to use the majority of it as I've used regular photoshop at school... But I dunno how to get pictures into this one...I tried using the import thing and it took me to my pictures, but none of the pictures I had in there are there. I go to load them to another program, word, and they're there and they load... what's up with that?
