Ooooh, FFXI Piano Collection. I'll have to get that. FF Piano Collections are usually impressive, and there are some great tracks in FFXI.

Mmm, I wouldn't go that far. There are some great memories to go along with it, though. :)

Honestly, I didn't find Final Fantasy XI's soundtrack to be very good. There were a couple songs I really enjoyed, but, for the most part, I was perfectly contented to turn the in game music volume down to 0 and play something with a media player.

I am, however, interested in the Piano Collection. Those rarely disappoint as most of the songs selected are some of the best from the entire OST.

I have the original~

Xarcabard is lovely~

so is Castle Zvahl.

and it has my favourite Nobuo Composition on it (Sorrow <3)

And I am (ovcourse) yet to hear most of the expansion soundtrack. so this will be truly awesome for me at least~

ps: there are some very "want to forget" tracks on it like Windurst etc.

I was under the impression that Nobuo Uematsu had absolutely nothing to do with the FFXI soundtrack.

I agree that FFXI's soundtrack has some fantastic tracks, and I listen to them occasionally. I LOVE Sorrow and a slew of other tracks, even Windurst (I was a Windurstian Hume). And you can't say that Heavens Tower isn't a great piece. Honestly the only one I can't stand is San d'Oria. I hate bagpipes.

And Uematsu did compose several pieces for FFXI, including Memoro de la S^tono (best opening music ever).

Ouch!

This is great, though I already have the whole soundtrack. But the piano collection would be nice to have!

That's very interesting. I got the original soundtrack a year before the game came out in the US (The one that came with the DVD with the opening movie and stuff), and this sounds good because I like most of the music in the game (I'm just a little bored of most of it), but that cost a bit much for me right now. Maybe by the time it becomes available I'd have a bit more to spend on it.

Pretty much. This is the first FF game that I wasnt all THAT impressed with the music. Some of it is excellent, dont get me wrong, but compared to some of the other FF's its not quite as good. I also find myself turning the music to 0 (occassionaly) and playing 'outside' music or just listening to the sounds of the game.

yeah.

I wonder if they will ever bother with a sound cd. or if there is a zip file full of ripped sound effects from the game out there~

Whether this was sarcasm or not, actually, thats a good idea. I make electronic music and some of the sound effects are pretty sick. Having a .wav version of specific sounds would be tight.

If you have the game installed on your computer, it's ridiculously easy to convert the BGM files into something you can play on any media player. I can't legally link to the program here, but it's easy enough to find.

I know how to do that though. Thats extremely easy. But the quality can suffer slightly. Id rather go for a clean sounding sample and then add my own level of distortion to it. Although, it is just a sound effect. Eh it doesnt matter really.

I would love to have use of the sounds.

as they are quite explosive and such.

and the ambient ones are also good :)

Is the sheet music for the whole soundtrack? Because if so, then it'd defenately be worth getting.

And you can rip sound effects from FFXI just as you do with the background music.
