You see, this question has been troubling me and many of my friends for a very long time. We all have different opinions, understandably, so we came to the conclusion their isn't one. No I just want to hear other people's best RGP ever. I don't mind if you don't have an absolute favourite, lists are fine. Opinions Please!!!

Ah, I'm not sure if my favourite RPG ever is DragonCrystal (MasterDrive) or Tales of Sympohonia, both may not be highly acclaimed but there is just something about them that make them special to me.

Ultima 6 on the PC back in the DOS days before the ESRB. Was an open ended world, had sex and nudity, good graphics for its time. Strong story, you could manipulate any object, such as forks and stuff. HUGE world too. took me months to beat it even though I played everyday.
Last true RPG before the ESRB was Daggerfall. Man, I miss those days before political correctness....

There was an NES Video game I believe.

I'll go for Xenosaga Episode 3.

And Yes, Earthbound was simply amazing.

D&D practically made the RPG genre. It could be argued, [yes] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game#History).

Earthbound is my favorite RPG thus far; is it the greatest? Possibly.

I cant believe it has not ben said yet.

There is something about this RPG that is so ironically related to my life it is sickening (everyone I have told that to says it is impossible, however it is true)

Whenever I think about it, my heart sink and my eyes fill with tears (its wierd)

Best RPG/Game?thing ever created= Final Fantasy X *muah*

I have no answer. I could run down a list of my favorite RPGs forever, but to pick an absolute favorite from all of them? Nearly impossible. There are too many that are too good.

sounds stupid but games that shaped my childhood are pokemon blue and yellow. i spent hours playing those things and i guess they were officially my first rpgs! :rolleyes2

but at the moment my personal favourites (and they change all of the time) are Skies of Arcadia Legends and Final Fantasy X

I cant answer the question on whats the greatest RPG, but I can give my favourite. FFVII, I wish I could give a better answer but I dont want to lie.

I'm surprised that no one's said WoW.

But me personally, I like Chrono Trigger and Tales of Phantasia.

I am going to say Zelda:Ocarina, even though I can already hear the cries of 'it's not really a role playing game.'

WoW is pretty great, but it can never stand up to games like Chrono Cross or FF. Not a whole heck of a lot of games can, actually :p

Lots of people here have said D&D. I can't believe I didnt pick that one. That game made RPG's, both pen & paper and electronic.
