I'm gonna laugh if the whole internet backlash against SOPA is just to take people's minds off of PIPA; and when it actually gets passed, after everyone's all like "Yeah we won! We beat the government!" it'll just destroy everyone's faith in humanity and cause widespread suicide. Which I will gladly partake in.

The thing is, SOPA was ridiculous enough that it would make PIPA seem like the lesser of two evils and as such, be more likely to be passed.

troll hunter is right and wrong. Sopa would allow the government to close any site that showed copyrighted material, and PIPA was like SOPA's retarded twin brother with a congenital birth defect that gives him xray vision.

just keep in mind, SOPA wasn't the real threat anyway.... its PIPA

Verry short:
SOPA is a (upcomming) bill that will shut down alot of site becaus of copyright.
Sites such as Megaupload have alot of movies on it that violate that copyright, and for that the owners got arrested.
Mega is just the first of many IF that bill really passes.
