  1. Fighting Evil by Moonlight...

by , 06-14-2016 at 08:21 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
So tonight I finally broke out a Christmas present I received several years ago that I never watched. Partly because for the first time in a long time, I felt ready for it. I acquired a DVD set that featured the entire DiC dub of the first two seasons of Sailor Moon, so basically the original dub, not the new one. Original Western score, Sailor Says, and the whole "Serena and Darien" name changes.

  2. Defining Gaming as Art

by , 02-23-2016 at 06:49 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
This was going to have a subtitle, but they all sounded like pretentious academic papers and that kind of goes against the point of all of this.

So recently I began reading a very in-depth article series about two series worked on by one of the more influential game designers/writers in my life, Tetsuya Takahashi. I'll leave it up to Google for you to figure out why. Anyway, it was mostly a really well written and interesting analysis of the works and I actually learn a few things ...
  3. Neon Lights, Large soda, and a handful of quarters...

by , 08-01-2015 at 09:07 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
So lately I've been reminded of one of my life goals was that I wanted to one day build my own arcade for myself. Get all the games I grew up on and just have a fun little place devoted to letting me play through the classics and relieve the arcade scene I grew up in. I've been discussing this with friends as we try to create a list of the games we would add to the arcade. Of course there would be the classics like Galaga, Gauntlet, Pac-Man, Paperboy, Frogger, and Dig Dug but I also thought about ...

  4. Trying to remember a feeling.

by , 11-04-2014 at 09:02 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
Normally I really hate writing personal posts like this but my strong dislike of EoEO and the fact this topic doesn't feel quite "EoEO material" as well as posting it in the Writing Forum felt weird because it's a bit too personal and I feel that forum should stick to its primary focus.

So recently I came upon some writer's block with a novel I am working on and so I decided to shift gears and work on a different story instead until I recharge and have a chance to step back ...
  5. That Game Company Collection

by , 03-29-2014 at 09:06 PM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
Haven't done a blog in ages and I wanted to talk about this without starting a thread.

So I picked up the That Game Company Collection set a while back and finally last December I played through it. I'm not going to bother discussing the cell phones style games cause... yeah... I'll simply focus on the Big 3 that everyone bought the set for.

flOw - Is and interesting game with some cool dynamics to it. It's pretty short but I'm a busy person and so this is actually a ...

  6. Mass Effect

by , 02-22-2013 at 01:01 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
Okay, so as many of you know, I picked up Mass Effect Trilogy not too long ago with a few other games and the prospect of playing an honest to god 100% Sci-Fi RPG was too much to resist so I plunged head first into the trilogy pack and have completed the first game. I'm roughly 10 hours into Mass Effect 2 at this point but I'm basically just going to lay out my thoughts on the first game.

  7. 10 Ideas from other RPG franchises that would make FF better.

by , 11-18-2011 at 06:46 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
Final Fantasy has always been one of the best series, but some would argue its entered its Dork Age, and that it has really lost its self. The other issue is that some games do things really well compared to FF and you have to wonder why Squenix doesn't give some of this love to the main series. This is not to say that these games are better than FF, rather they have some particular elements that make them stand out among their peers, and I often wonder why the rest of the genre hasn't jumped on ...
  8. Damn Surviving Devils

by , 08-01-2011 at 06:35 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
So I finished Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor last night, I ended up going the Law route and went with Amane so I can finally get some answers to wtf was going on.

For those who don't know, this game is on the DS and is basically the MegaTen franchise trying its hand at SRPGs like FFTactics or Ogre Battle. Your units are teams made up of one human and two demon partners. Humans gain skills by targeting certain enemy skills and killing the target that carries the skill, while demons ...

  9. Assassin's Creed 2 Final Thoughts.

by , 07-30-2011 at 08:54 PM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
It seems like everyone is finally getting around to play this game lately, so I'm going to add to it cause I finally finished it last night. I still haven't picked up the UPlay dungeon or the DLC but I finished the main game and got all trophies.

AC2 is a pretty damn awesome game and has finally propelled the AC franchise as one of the best new franchises to emerge this console generation. Sad to say, AC2 is probably the best game I've played on the PS3 so far. Which is remarkable ...

  10. Assassin's Creed

by , 06-11-2011 at 04:16 AM (Wolf Kanno's Crazy Ramblings and Incoherent Statements)
So I finally got off my ass and played through Assassin's Creed 1. Yeah, I know I'm half a decade behind the rest but I've been busy. I was thinking of making a thread but figured a blog review or final thoughts would work better since it is such an old game. Anyway... my thoughts:

Story and Characters: The plot of the game is intriguing, a little weird but once you quickly accept the Animus, everything else doesn't feel out of place. The game has a pretty good cast of characters who ...
