I blog about visual novels as I read them.
You know, I recently went back over some of the plots of my favorite visual novels and, uh, with a lot of them if you think about the situation too much it starts getting really depressing. So for "fun" I felt like summing up their situations in a sentence or two and decided to make a little game: match the VN to the horribly depressing situation! Naturally some of these are pretty big spoilers so I've put the list of represented VNs in a spoiler tag at the bottom. You shouldn't ...

I saw someone had done a LP on YouTube and thought about watching it wasn't sure if it was the right thing. It seems that across the several different rants ...
So today has been a pretty meh day. As is usual on the last day of a university deadline. But having it be one day before the final day of the year is just in bad taste. Since I was in a group with my brother on this assignment, we were in his apartment together, working, from 2 PM to midnight straight. It was a pretty taxing time for the both of us, not to mention my brother's wife who took on the task of attending to their three children in the meantime. Of course all that was sliiiiightly ...

I've been planning on doing this for a while. With how the amount of localizations has been skyrocketing I figured it might be good to make a post introducing the various developers that I consider to be the most important and relevant in this growing industry of visual novels in the west for the time being. This way perhaps newcomers can have an idea of what to expect from whom, and where to look for what. When describing notable works, green text is for visual novels that have received ...
Do you know that feeling when sometimes you just get into the mood to drop everything you're doing and spend the next few days doing nothing but reading? The House in Fata Morgana (or Fata Morgana no Yakata) is a visual novel for sale on Steam. The initial parts of the novel are written in second person narration of all things as You, the master of a mansion, are awoken by an unfamiliar maid. [IMG]https://i.imgur.com/CBTpiDQ.png ...
Key fans rejoice, a brand new Key visual novel has been released! Not localized, but actually released for the first time. And I know what you're thinking, well I can't read Japanese so I can't read it, right? Wrong, because for whatever reason Key/Visual Art's decided to release the game in English before it's even out in Japan! Steam Store Page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/421660 ...
As of right now, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, known in English as Umineko When They Cry, has been officially released on Steam! Chiru is not included yet, so this is just the first half of the entire story. And I know what you're thinking. "Why would I pick up an incomplete story?" Fret not, there are still good reasons to pick it up and read it now, and because Umineko is the best, I'll relay those reasons to you now. Just to quickly recap for those who don't know: Umineko no Naku Koro ni ...

As of yesterday, Tomoyo After has been released on Steam! The price is $20, but right now there's a release sale up until July 8th that puts it at $16. Link to the Steam Store Page Tomoyo After is a spinoff to CLANNAD, a continuation of Tomoyo's character route, and it's my #3 favorite visual novel, just barely above CLANNAD itself. The original version had adult content in it, but this version is all-ages friendly ...
For anyone looking for a good time to pick up some VNs, look no further! As you probably know the Steam Summer Sale is upon us so a massive number of games are reduced; and VNs are no exception. Link to full list of visual novels with reduced prices My personal recommendations for longer novels are CLANNAD (character-focused highschool romantic slice of life) and Root Double (sci-fi escape mystery). As for medium length novels, I recommend G-senjou no Maou (crime thriller), ...
