There's something truly magical about Himawari that I didn't really realize back when I first read it but have come to appreciate about it more and more. Himawari has an enforced reading order, something you don't see a lot in galge without a strong plot focus. However, like other visual novels such as Fate/Stay Night can use it to drive the plot and themes forward in parallel tales, so too does Himawari use it to give us ample ...
Well, at last, it happened. It's been a long time coming, Umineko Chiru is finally available for purchase on Steam, and alternatively MangaGamer's own website. Umineko Chiru - Steam Store Page This is the second half of Umineko of course, so if you haven't read the first half yet, you can get it here. I've stated how much Umineko means to me many a time before, ...
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year. Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making. Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet... Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite. Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling. ...

You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'. For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all. This post will contain ...

As of just now, Little Busters! English Edition is on Steam Greenlight. While the release date is a vague "2017" it's pretty cool to see *something* happening nonetheless. You can vote for it here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=913946529 Can't be that much longer now, can it!
I thought about making another Top 10 list with VNs I've read or changed opinion on since my last one, but I don't think it would be particularly representative. So hey, why not make a ranking of literally *all* VNs I've ever read? Sounds like fun! That being said, some of these novels are way too close to one another and hard to differentiate in how I feel about them. So I'm going to be doing this in tiers. I'll still try to sort the VNs in each individual tier from worst to best, ...

This is going to be a series of posts forming a commentary on the journey of reading Umineko. While I may talk about themes more relevant to Umineko on a greater scale, I intend to keep this series spoiler-free beyond the episode I'm talking about, so you're completely safe to read this if you've read up to the episode in the title yourself. Starting with Episode 1: And Then There Were No Seagulls, or something along those lines. At least until it's not anymore. Umineko OST - Ride on ...

Referring to Zero Escape, Root Double and Ever17, three games / series that share a quite similar premise and execute it in quite different ways. The shared premise being basically as follows: a group of characters finds themselves locked in a very dangerous situation cut off from the outside world, and if they don't get out fast they all die. The games are all set in the not too distant future, with science being a little more advanced than in our world. And finally, all the games have some very ...

Steam Page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/477740/ So yeah, after what feels like an eternity since ZTD's PC release, the first two parts of the Zero Escape trilogy are finally catching up and getting PC releases of their own. Or at least together as a bundle. 999 has been revamped and features voice acting and I believe also the new (bad) ending that came in the iOS version? ...
You know, I recently went back over some of the plots of my favorite visual novels and, uh, with a lot of them if you think about the situation too much it starts getting really depressing. So for "fun" I felt like summing up their situations in a sentence or two and decided to make a little game: match the VN to the horribly depressing situation! Naturally some of these are pretty big spoilers so I've put the list of represented VNs in a spoiler tag at the bottom. You shouldn't ...
