FF9 is my favourite aswell nearly had me in tears at the end.. (there was dust in my eyes, someone left the window open)

My music taste is rather wide and varied but I suppose saying Alt Rock would put you in the ball park. I like that I recognised Maximum the Hormone purely because of Death Note Final Fantasy IX is a great game, so you have good taste. I still prefer VI but it's a close race!
