It really isnt as big a deal as I made it out to be. I'm mostly just disappointed as this used to be my favorite class. I'll just do the final speech and get it over with. I can get over myself, at least for a day

Yeah, but he's working on a group project. I'm sure that the other kids won't want to give a negative report in fear of getting a bad grade.

And that's why I hate group projects!

so you were inspired negatively; spin it into a critique of mass-media

I haven't a clue how American 'colleges' work so I'll go by English Universities and you can take from it what you will. Over here, our first year is just a year to break you into what's to come, so it doesn't count to the final grade. Make the most of your first year. Get stuck into the work, sure, but make sure you have a good time as well. Some of your best memories can be made in this year! I'm like you and I aren't a partier, so by have fun I don't necessary mean go out and get troutfaced! xD Other than that, the standard 'Do your best' advice is as good as any. And, as Jiro said, get stuff done before you get other work!

On the subject of money I can only offer the obvious. Don't buy what you don't need. Don't waste all your money on stuff and don't let peer pressure get to you! College makes debts and they aren't easily shifted, so keep your head on straight and you should be fine! If you feel you can balance college with a job, then go for it! It's what I did! Sure I missed out on every weekend having a break from uni and having fun, but it meant I had the money to do what I wanted when I could and it gave me a backbone to live on. And work experience is never a bad thing!

Congrats TH! Enjoy your time and make it worthwhile! Good luck! :]

    First off, Congratulations!!

You're right about the "one year of salary" rule. It's a good rule to follow. But don't worry too much about loans, education debt isn't necessarily a "bad" debt to have. Just make sure you make it worth while. Education debt isn't so bad because it's something that will pay off in the end, (where as with something like a car loan, you get a loan on something that can only depreciate in value)

My only other suggestion is to never let anything get in the way of you and gradution!! Of course, you should have a good time. It's college! But don't forget the number one goal you have. College goes fast! I can't believe I'm already in my final year.

Considering I've got to pay for this, I'm definitely going to work my ass off. I hate parties myself, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue.
I'll have to get better at working on assignments a little bit at a time instead of one giant burst. I can start working on that next semester actually.

I don't have any tips for American schooling but in general just go at it hard. As soon as you get course outlines and know what your assessment is, start working on it. Little bits at a time means the effort is almost unnoticeable. Don't let the work swamp you if you can help it. Also enjoy yourself, if you hate the experience then you're not likely to do well!

It's quite frankly terrifying at this point. It's 5% contained and over 15000 acres are on fire right now. If you're willing to spend the time, read this for more info. Colorado wildfire spreads, threatens Air Force Academy | Reuters

It's almost reached my neighborhood D:

But yes, that meme is amazing, especially sense a week ago I rewatched avatar all the way through for the first time in 5 years. Such a coincidence it would reappear everywhere right when I finished it.

I have been loving the hell out of that meme lately, and I don't know why. But I lol'd hard at seeing it again xD Fires are terrifying, so stay safe dude. Had my house burn down once and it's not pleasant. GOOD LUCK.

I'll be leaving in about an hour, and I'm really excited. So many people to see, things to do, climate to complain about.
    I really can't wait though.

i cant really remember my longest distance.. or time.
but i can tell you something interesting ^^
we were on vacation and we went with a tourist bus to Prague. it was my moms great idea to go like that :/ i advise you: DONT, just go on yr own with yr own car. fopr the love of god!!

back to the story:it was a verry hot day.
on the way back we were held up by a train crossroad and it just lasted for 15 min, leaving us confused.
when al the sudden the sky went dark grey and just like that the wind started to blow verry hard, shaking the buss, and it started hailing and thunder verry hard.
after maybe 10 exiting minutes it calmed down.
the crossroad went open and we could move on.
as we drove on the road we saw fallen tree's, who dragged big chunks of road with them when they fell.

we soon realised it was more serious than we thought and serveral meters further we were blocked by a tree.

fire department came to clear the road. that was verry nice to see
would love tos how you a picture.. as soon as i can find them

when we finaly went further towards 'home' we saw a camping. the tree's there were broken like toothpickers with tents under it.
we've spend the rest of the night in the dark without power

edit: p.s Congratulations on becoming an Uncle

I say that too. It's hard for me to live by it, as much as I want to. I'm indecisive, and well, I've got to learn to live with that problem, and do as much as I can with my life.
'Think about this, will you remember today in a few months? A year?'
If not, you may want to do something about it.
