I'm obsessd with building my characters up to certain levels at certain points, and that unfortunately included having her in my party for several events. I would build her up less, but still want her at the same level, so I put her in my party for the main story so that I didn't have to go out of my way to use her more. I apparently forgot about this part of it .

How, as a fellow Aerith hater, did you end up with her as your date? I've never failed to get Tifa if I wanted to.

You're going to run out of ideas for that particular running joke any minute now.

This will be a long one, as it is two days worth of adventuring!

I got my buggy and drove around until I reached this place called Gongaga, which had a blown up mako reactor, it looks like. I ran into the awesomeness that is the Turks, who were talking about their crushes. I did not instantly approach them, as I was intimidated by their greatness. Rude confessed he liked Tifa and it was said that Tseng like Aeris. It was not mentioned if Reno likes me back . Elena approaches the group and makes conversation before remembering that I am the enemy () and then I have to fight. Reno kindly explains to me that just because he is retreating, it does not mean he is running away. Rude apparently had an appointment he was very late for, because he checked his watch and then ran in the other direction. I proceeded towards the blown up reactor and found Scarlett picking on Tseng. I went to the little mini town with not much going on and found the parents of the Zach. When Tifa was asked if she knew him, she took a bit of a fit and ran off. I felt bad for his poor parents who were missing him. I went to see Tifa who made it very clear that she does not know Zach. So then we went on our way.

To Cosmo Canyon! Home of the Red XIII. He told me about his home and his cowardly father and ran off. So after shopping around I went to see him and his grandfather, who's name I can't remember. He told me to go find two friends to witness something with. So I wandered around until I found Barret, who said to me, "What?". Nice to see you too, Barret . So I took him and Tifa with me. He showed us how life begins and ends and returns to the earth as part of the lifestream and creates new life. He explained how the Mako reactors are ruining the process and destroying the planet. Because apparently I didn't already know this. I also learned that Red 7 is about 47 or 48, which is about 15-16 in human years. He still manages to be more mature than most of my characters. He tells how he wants to protect the village, unlike his cowardly father. His grandfather asks us to come and show him something. He opens up a door and we go through. There are some spikes and monsters and treasure chests. As well as a boss fight. Eventually, we find Red October's father, Seto, and we learn he was a hero, who protected everyone. Red 18 honors his father and howls and tears are seen coming from the statue that is now Seto. It is touching. We also have a moment around the fire where Aeris confides in me how she feels alone about being the last of her kind. I feel some sympathy. Cloud tries to be a good guy and console her, saying that they'll always be there for her, and she turns her head away swiftly and sticks her nose up. Sympathy gone. Red 5 tells us he will continue journeying with us and then we leave and head for Nibelheim or whatever its called!!

We arrive at the town which is supposed to be burned down but isn't and Cloud gets told off by some villagers and there are some weird black blobs wandering around talking about a Reunion. I go into the Shinra mansion and recruit Vincent, who is quite strange and like to swish his cape and flip his hair. He tells me about Sephiroth's real mother and how he was made and eventually decides to join me. I find Sephiroth who asks Cloud if he will be part of the Reunion. Cloud says he doesn't know what a Reunion is and Sephiroth throws a dictionary at him. Okay, that's not true, but he does throw a materia and tells me he is headed north and then he flies off. I go throw Mt. Nibel, fight some stuff, get some treasures. On the whole, it is uneventful. Me and buggy separate after almost a whole day of bonding.

I come to a town with a rocket, which will now be referred to as Rocket Town, or Cidsville. It is a pretty town and I find a plane called the Tiny Bronco. I can't tell if the name is stupid or clever. I go speak to Cid, on the rocket, who tells me how he was going to be the first man in space, but his plans were foiled when Shinra scrapped the project. I go back to speak to that woman in his house. He bursts in and uses fowl language and demands she make tea and that I drink it. She tells me how its her fault his dreams were ruined because she was messing around with the oxygen tanks and if he had taken off, she would have been killed. Palmer bursts in (thanks for knocking) and Cid goes out to talk to the Shinra men, who tell him they will not revive the space program, but want to use the Tiny Bronco to go oversees and find Sephiroth. Lady In Cid's House tells me to sneak away with the Tiny Bronco, which leads to a fight with Palmer, who in the end gets hit by a truck. It was very amusing, but there was no truck in the backyard, so not sure how that happened. We take off and Cid jumps on and we get shot at as we fly off. The plane then magically turns into a boat. Cid tells me he will accompany me as Vincent and Aeris sit, just chillin, on the plane/boat.

I did some more stuff in Wutai, but I will leave it at that and include it in my next post so this doesn't get to long!

The respelling isn't actually intentional, I just automatically think of his name like the French hat and that's how my brain spells it. I'll try to correct it. I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it .

    Best update yet.

I don't get the respelling of Barret. I hope I'm not missing something obvious.

Afterwards, we went to the BATTLE ARENA! and found some dead peoples. Was it Sephiroth!? No, and I'm not sure why that's our automatic reaction to everything. Dead guy? Must be Sephiroth. Earthquake? Sephiroth! Old lady getting mugged in the street? Clearly the work of Sephiroth.
    :bgl:

I'm sure that could be worked into a One Winged Angel parody.
"Graft, theft, bribery, who could the culprit be--Sephiroth!"

having faith in his friends like he does, Cloud wondered if it was possibly Berret.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought that was off.

Sadly they were both shot and that's how Berret lost his arm. Like any reasonable man, he replaced it with a gun.
    :bgl:

No comment, just thought that quote needed a laughing smiley.

On this adventure in Final Fantasy VII land:

We headed for the gold saucer and Berret talked about his past. He told how the Shinra built a reactor that he helped push for despite his friend Dyne's hesitation. Well, they should have listened to him, because something went wrong in the reactor and Shinra burned down the village, claiming it was done by a rebel faction. Berret and Dyne were not there at the time and so they came back to a burned down village and their loved ones dead. Understandably, Berret was quit upset.

So we headed to the Gold Saucer and Aeris decided that it would be a good idea to be a total ^%#%^$& to Berret while he was obviously going through a difficult time. When Tifa asked her if she was being a bit harsh (yes) she replied that it's best to just act natural in these situations. Apparently her idea of acting natural is literally going right up to him and saying KAY WE'RE GOING TO HAVE FUN NOW RIGHT AFTER YOU TOLD US THIS TRAGIC STORY BAIIIIIII~. Then he got upset and left. I would have done the same.

Also, I hate the Gold Saucer. I hate the way it looks and the music and the whole thing just...ugh. So my boyfriend has agreed to go and do all the extras that need to be done in the Gold Saucer later on in the game. So I went and met with some guy named Dio, I think? And he told me he had seen Sephiroth. Then I ran in to Cait Sith, the fortune telling machine, who did a little dance. I brought Red 7 with me and when Cloud read his last fortune and said "What the... What is this?" or something along those lines, Red 18 said "Read it out loud, Cloud." Which made me giggle because I thought of a teacher telling a 1st grader to read the page out loud. Use your words Cloud.

So it turns out they were killed by gun shot, so having faith in his friends like he does, Cloud wondered if it was possibly Berret. Well sure enough, we get falsly accused of the crime (karma) and end up in some kind of desert prison with some rude people and some people who lie.

We found Berret and he tells us about how they were heading back to the on fire little town when they were shot at by Shinra. Dyne was about to fall off a cliff when Berret grabbed him. Sadly they were both shot and that's how Berret lost his arm. Like any reasonable man, he replaced it with a gun. I also like how this is where the game explains why he has a gun arm, because it is conveniently timed with when I have him equipped with scissor arm. So now Berret hates Shinra.

We go to find Dyne (gasp) who has also done the reasonable thing, and got himself a gun arm. He is now very pessimistic and likes to shoot at things and wants to end the world. Berret tells him that Dyne's daughter, Marlene, is still alive and well. So of course Dyne decides its time to battle! After a very short fight, Dyne is defeated. He then says that he can no longer hold her because his hands are too dirty or bloody or something, and then he jumps off a cliff and dies. I don't know why it worked this time and not the last time.

I wander in to the desert aimlessly and after conveniently being brought back by a chocobo carriage, we decide we are going to chocobo race for the fun of it. I mean, to escape desert prison. The skirty chocobo woman teaches me how to race, which I don't pay attention to, and eventually the race is won and I am let out of prison. To make things better, Dio decides to give us a buggy. I think it's well named because it kind of looks like a bug.

And that concludes this adventure in Final Fantasy VII land!

Today/last night on Final Fantasy VII:

Aeris and Red 27 were rescued from Hojo Jojo. Cloud got on an elevator and was stopped by the awesome Turks. The group was imprisoned. After some talking and sleeping, Cloud awoke to find his cell door unlocked and the guard dead. We searched the guard and found the key (apparently we found two, because Tifa and Cloud both unlocked a door at the same time) and rescued my friends. We exited to find a really creepy train of blood and for what ever reason, decided to follow it. Also, the Jenova specimen was gone. We were lead upstairs where we found president Shinra dead with a sword sticking out of his body. One of the higher up Shinras told me that it was Sephiroth. We had already figured as much.

On our way out of the building, we were stopped by Rufus, the dead presidents son. He told us about his plan to rule with FEAR because his fathers way was too expensive. A man with a plan. You gotta respect that. Cloud told the others to leave and they did so Cloud fought Rufus mano-a-mano. Once the fight had progressed enough, Rufus grabbed on to a helicopter, one armed, and rode off. Because he is BAD. ASS. Except for his name. Best CEO ever.

Tifa decided she would wait for Cloud, so Aeris, Berret, and Red 33 headed on without her. There was a boss fight on a never ending elevator, where only Berret could physically attack him with his gun arm. For some reason, no matter how long the fight lasted, the elevator never landed, so that my others could walk over. After these incidences and some other action packed stuff, Cloud got himself a motorcycle and made his friends ride some ugly blue truck-like thing. There was a scene involving attacking some motorcycle guards while Cloud himself was on a motorcycle, and swinging his sword around.

Once this cheesy action fight was over, we finally decided to leave Midgar. We headed to a small town, which I think is called Kalm(?) and headed for the Inn. once up there, Cloud decided to flashback 6 years and tell us of his experience with Sephiroth.

Him and Sephiroth were brought to Cloud's hometown of Nibelheim to investigate the mako reactor. They first ran into a dragon, which was quickly cut down by the level 50 Sephiroth. After they got to the town, Cloud wandered around, checking out some stuffs and some peoples. He had some trouble remembering certain moments. The next day, he and Sephiroth, guided by Tifa, went over to the mako reactor. Tifa was instructed to stay outside. Cloud and Sephiroth went in and saw some mutant people in these tear shaped pod things. Oh also, best music in the game so far, in that reactor. You learn that those mutants are experiments made by Hojo Mojo. Sephiroth begins to wonder about his mother being named Jenova and the Jenova cells. When they get back to town, he heads to the Shinra mansion to read up on the ancients in the library in the basement.

Cloud goes to check on him, in the really creepy mansion, and Sephiroth babbles on about the ancients and how people took the planet from them and he is an ancient and him and his mother are going to take back the planet. later on, he sets the town on fire, killing many innocent people, including Cloud's mother and Tifa's father. Cloud follows him to the mako reactor and gets there to witness Tifa being struck down after trying to confront Sephiroth about the death of her father. How she survive? We aren't supposed to know yet. Then Cloud stands off against Sephiroth, but can't remember what happens, so instead you're left with a scene flashing back and forth at an accelerated pace, until someone has an epileptic seizure.

Everyone finishes listening to his story, and after some 'wow, that's deep' moments, they decide to head on their way. We go to a swamp, get our asses handed to us by a snake, and go instead spend large amounts of money on chocobo supplies, to cross the swamp alive. I went back and beat that stupid annoying jerk snake after several attempts today, and got Red 49 the Beta spell. Also, did I mention that Red coloring 11 is awesome? Because he is.

So with that done, we head through the cavern and meet Rude (who actually isn't all that rude) and Elena, the newest member of the turks and the other guy. Can't think of his name. He told me to say hi to Aeris. Elena shows her adorableness and blabs their plans to me and Rude tells me reno can't wait to see me again. I'm so glad, I've been thinking about you too, Reno.

Once this is done, I head into the forest to recruit the adorably spunky Yuffie, who I have yet to actually use.

And that concludes today's long adventure in Final Fantasy VII land!

Did you make sure to get Cait Sith's weapon out of the Shinra building? I always loved how you're fighting security in the halls of the Shinra building, but apparently none of the scientists hanging out in the labs hear this, or seem at all concerned.

Today on Final Fantasy VII, Cloud dressed like a girl and I may or may not have had sex with a man. I spent way to much money on a vending machine and got a tiara. I also got myself a silk dress and a wig and some lingerie. Also, I have decided that Cloud makes a better woman than man. Aeris and I went to rescue Tifa and there was some leering and hip thrusting and threats to private parts and other questionable humor. The Don revealed to me that they were planning to destroy sector 7 and then he asked me why he would reveal this information to me. Then I correctly answered because he thinks he's won. But instead of winning a prize, I got dropped down from the floor :/.

I ended up in a sewer and fought some sewer...thing... and then proceeded through the sewer and then ended up at the train graveyard. I fought some stupid ghost things that vanish. it isn't so bad if there's a few of them and you can rotate, but it's very annoying when there's just one of them. It's basically Attack, wait. Wait. Wait. Attack again, wait. Wait. Wait. And repeat if necessary.

Then we rushed to sector 7 and Aeries finally left and made herself useful by going to get Marlene and there was some shooting going on. I dunno. Where does Beret keep all of his ammo? Anyways, I rushed up the stairs and I was as nice as I could be to the dying members of AVALANCHE. I sadly had to step on Jessie on my way up the stairs and I felt bad . SHE'S DEAD . Then I was forced against my will to fight Reno, who put me in a pyramid, which I then had to attack to make go away. I may have accidentally hit Cloud more than necessary . After the super awesome Reno ran away, not at all cowerdly, we headed to Aeris house to rescue Marlene. According to Tifa, apparently Aeris said something about Marlene being safe. I don't know, I don't pay much attention when Aeris talks.

So we head to Aeris' house and we are greeted by her "mother", who criticizes Berret's parenting, and find out she's ADOPTED!!!! GASP!!! Oh, and something about being an Ancient or whatever. Poor Aeris' mom lost her husband. Makes me feel bads. We find out that Aeris gave herself up to the Turks in order to save Marlene. Berret goes to see his daughter and makes me feel like if he wasn't such a potty mouth. Cloud goes to leave the house and Tifa asks Cloud if he's going to rescue Aeris, and I say no, but Cloud says yes, and apparently we have to do what he wants so off we go to her rescue.

Does anyone else think the game would be better if you played the Turks. this game has so many spin offs, why can't that be one of them?

So we head back to Pervert Land and i get some batteries and climb some wires. Cloud tells you at that jumping point to not wait until the rope gets too close before jumping, but he lied, because you basically have to jump when it's right in front of you. So up we go until we finally arrive to Mt-Shinra. They give you the option of sneaking in or busting in. I had never chosen the sneaking in option, so I went with that one. Apparently, sneaking in going up the staircase, which for reasons I don't quite understand is unguarded. So up we go and even though I often passed Tifa and Berret on the staircase, when we would enter the next screen, they for some reason were ahead of me!

So we finally arrive and there is some more weird set ups with the guards, as they left an entire area of a floor with no guards in it, and obstacles to block the other guards from seeing you if you time it right. I did not. After a series of fights, the game gave up on me and let me continue anyways. I went up some floors, and talked to some people who never thought to call security on me. I replied "......." to one random employee who assumed that meant I was a repair man(?) and gave me a key to a restricted floor. Shinra knows how to run a business. So Shinra destroyed sector 7 and pretended AVALANCHE did it and some other corrupt big business stuff. Money.

Anyways, I ran in to the Hojo who was holding Red XIII and Aeris and was I think trying to breed them? Berret shot some stuff (but not Hojo, as per my recommendation) and I freed both Red XII and Aeris.

And that concluded today's exciting adventure in Final Fantasy VII land!
