This is Canada. Where do we not have rampant alcoholism to some degree?

But New Brunswick is probably my favourite province and I've either been to or lived in everything east of Manitoba.

Maybe someday you can return home and bring Sharky to the land of single payer healthcare and endless wilderness. Maybe even settle down on the east coast.

Not really. She then proceeded to tell all the employees that I'm, and I quote, "crazy" and some of them won't even look at me anymore

    Oh well!

I talked to the managers and they worked with me and agreed to give me shorter shifts, which is good since lots of people are pushing to have more hours. They also agreed to give me help and breaks if I ever have anxiety build up

If one of my employees said this to me so early on I wouldn't know what to do. You say you're working in a sales environment? They'd probably fire you. It's shocking but true, they haven't got the time to have people who might be uncomfortable with working.

Didn't you have a volunteer position? What is different in your mind that you could do the volunteering but not the paid work? I'm sure you can do it shion

If you don't like it there or if you truly believe that you are having such a hard time, I think you should quit. If I were a manager and someone approached me to say something like this, I would say that it's obviously taking a toll on you and that it isn't going to work out. It might be more empowering, however, to just accept responsibility and to quit instead of leaving it up to someone else to make that decision for you.

However, if you truly intend to try at this, you should try to go in and work the long shift instead of bailing. I know it's a new thing for you, but I don't think that you can grow as a person or a professional, really, unless you just kindof suck it up by working your shift. Starting a new job is hard for everyone, truly. It's a difficult adjustment time for all people. I know that if you just power through it, you can do it. And then after that comes the part where you're a part of team and well-adjusted and everything is fine. But you have to get through the troutty phase first, and bailing in the first little while after you've been hired is not the way to advance.

It's really impressive how far you've gone since you started this. I hope that at some point in the future, you will find the time to get back to this challenge. For now, I think it's best that you get your life back on track so you don't feel overwhelmed. Good luck, shion!
