If my brain made that sound when I woke up I'd be on my feet in no time flat. That's a sound that demands you be on your feet and not turn around and go back to sleep. Unless I'm really, really tired.
Since Timekeeper is in Cambodia or some trout I'll do what he normally does. Football as a name stems from the fact that most distinguished sports were played on horseback by those fancy enough to own horses and whatever. So football was basically a generic term for like, non-mounted polo. Like clearly the NFL could've come up with something else but w/e I don't even believe in this stupid rationale I just thought Timekeeper's sagelike wisdom was lacking while he was off being a sage.

I get what you are saying, but I always assumed the name stems from the fact that there is a kick off every time the game is started or "restarted." There is also a punt when a team gives up a possession. And then there is the extra point try after a touchdown and field goal, which have lead to MANY key victories in important games over the years. Yeah, mostly hands are used, but the name isn't COMPLETELY off base.

It blows my mind that they'd use the name football. Bad enough the name doesn't seem to fit the sport, but why would anyone create a sport, then choose to give it the same name as the most boring sport on Earth?
That sound was seriously one of my favourite things about playing FFVII back in the day. Those startup screens, leading into the opening cinematic. It was a thing of beauty and fills me with the nostalgias. I think I may have to buy another PSX now because I miss it so.
The PS1 boot sound is a thing of beauty. I'm sad that playing ps1 games on the PS3 don't do the first part. <3

Unfortunately, PS1 memory cards were notorious for malfunctioning if they were an "aftermarket/generic" brand... Like the digital ones that had multiple blocks with 150 save slots... The one I had would mess up constantly, and I'd have to re-format it. At one point, it wouldn't even switch to a different block or it'd skip over the one I needed it to go to. Such a pain. -_-;

i have no idea o.o i know it is not a sony card like my ps2 card is. i was playing this game i burrowed from my aunt that freezes if you try to save after the first level because of a scratch and i forgot to wait tell after level 2 to save and it froze.. so maybe that is why >.<
