I didn't like the story at all but it did shed some light on Spira's lore. It sort of felt like a big bait for FFX fans. Maybe that thought will change if I see the true ending? I don't know.
Lol no the true ending is the biggest bait for FFX fans of all.

It is! It's a grind. I've played 9 out 18 games (excluding the MMORPGs) and it's been a grueling experience. But for some reason, it's kind of satisfying. Let's see where this takes me as I start tackling down more titles.

It's a lofty goal to play through such a massive franchise. On that list itself, the only entries I haven't played are the XIII sequels and XIV. Though I played the originals of most of the entries so I missed out on special new dungeons and stuff for a few of them.

    Hi DeadRinger1986,

Thanks for keeping up with my blogs.

For FFX, I am playing remaster.

    For FF1 + FF2, I played the PSP ports.

FF3-FF9, I played the Steam Ports. I think FF6 was the worse port, literally just the mobile version ported to Steam. FFIV was the remaster, and it was very challenging, but in the end I was able to beat it. It's been awhile since I have played FF3 but it was pretty interesting. There were some game mechanics that made a lot of sense to use certain classes over others. It kind of pushed you to think about your upcoming fights if you've failed.

My only thoughts on IV were two particular bosses I've had difficulty with. The remaster was very challenging but overall, if you were creative, and smart with your decision making, you could make it through. I think the only reason why I won both fights was because of RNG and not good decision making. Whatever the reason was, I was able to get through them and beat the game.

I'm not very savvy with all the game mechanics but I think I'd probably do a lot better my second time through. I think that's how I was able to improve myself in Final Fantasy VII.

I've also played Chrono Trigger and I think that's a fantastic game that still holds up today. I was also a big fan of Chrono Cross too which I am surprised not a lot of people really liked.

Looking forward to hearing about your journey with your game catalog.

Love it. I guess I am following you, but with more SE titles than just the FFs. But, only TV console RPGs, none of the shooter games, rhythm games, mobile games, no XI or XIV, etc. Just doing what I like I am originally a VII - X generation kid. FFX was one of my absolute favorites so I hope you enjoy it. Are you on the PS4 remaster? Or are you attempting all original versions?

Right now, I've completed I, II, V, and currently going through the PSP version of III. Then, the rest of my SNES generation will include FFIV, FFVI, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger.

I really like III. Probably the fact that it's a PSP port has a lot to do with that, but I feel like the job system is a lot more fun and less cumbersome than the famous FFV job system--which felt like a needless grind to me, since all the bosses/superbosses could be beaten without all the extra grinding at endgame.

Looking forward to your thoughts on X, and for that matter any thoughts on III and IV since that's where I'm heading.

Yep, it was me, I'm watching your stream right now. Good luck on your journey through the FFs! It's kind of a pilgrimage for me now haha!

VIII ha its fair share of issues, but I appreciate how off beat it is compared to other FF titles. It gets reamed for being so exploitable, but I also feel like you have to both know what you're doing and still put in a lot of effort to make that work, so it works out in my head.

Now you'll be jumping into my fave FF of the PS1 generation, and the game I consider to be the last true Final Fantasy game. Have fun!
Yes! I actually tried to learn the Triple Triad game so I could win key cards to make equipment/forge stuff early on. I think I prefer FF8's card game to FF9's. I'm just glad FF9's card game isn't as important to play as FF8's. I love FF9 because it has a good pacing but it sort of trails off for me towards the end (DISC 3 or DISC 4). I'm still pretty excited to play through it again though.

Congrats on finishing the game! Gau is only underleveled if you happen to leave him on the Veldt and go level somewhere else. Characters only scale their level to the party when they leave for story purposes.

Well, I'm glad you've been doing a good job making it through the classics. Hopefully, you'll be able to find times to check out VIII and IX.

It’s actually a bit confusing, but the first game is Bravely Default, then Bravely Second is it’s direct sequel, and then it looks like Bravely Default II isn’t going to be connected through story at all to the previous two.
  20. ham's Avatar
Yep, will do. Plan on playing through FFT as well. I own Bravely Second: End Layer and plan on picking up Bravely Second 2. I'll probably tackle those after I finish the Final Fantasy main titles.
