Sleep cycles. Waking up after one ends but before another starts means you'll feel fine when you wake up. Waking up in the middle of one makes you drowsy.

I wouldn't put it to good use. I'd walk into banks and take the money while everyone was frozen in place.
Manipulating time is a skill we all could put to good use, I feel.
