A few days ago, I went to a midnight showing of Princess Mononoke at the Esquire Theater downtown. The very same theater I went to watch it the first time back in 1999 during it's initial release in the States. At that time, I was an avid anime fan who would consume whatever I could find as the medium was only in the beginning phases of it's explosive popularity in the 2000s, so the prospect of being able to watch an anime flick in an actual movie ...

by , 11-01-2017 at 05:36 PM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
As of today, Little Busters! English Edition is available for purchase on Steam!

    Store Page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/63...glish_Edition/

The game is 20% off during its launch week, putting it at a respectable price of around half that of CLANNAD's, even though the two are quite similar in terms of sheer content value (though Little Busters contains ...

  3. Video game site

Hey guys, I made a fun, silly little video game site. I'll update it weekly with new stuff. I would also like a montly guest feature (there's a nifty one about Telltale right now by our very own KleinerKiller) so if you ever feel like writing about video games, let me know so you can get your stuff out to tens of people. Opinions, reviews, whatever you want. There's also a nifty site poll and I'll attempt a clay sculpture of the first poll winner! So check it out, share with your friends, etc etc. ...

  4. Sonic 3: A Follow-Up

I was telling Darth-Ganon that I decided to revisit Sonic 3, a game I previously couldn't see the appeal of, after beating Sonic Mania, which in terms of design seemed like a half step between Sonic 2 and 3. I can now happily say that Sonic 3 has definitely grown on me, but I only grew to love it once I approached its level design differently than from most other Sonic games:

To start, I loved Sonic 2 because it was very arcadey; alternate paths are easy to spot, but also easy to miss ...

  5. Dies Irae Review

by , 08-03-2017 at 01:32 AM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
Dies irae ~Amantes amentes~ is a visual novel created by Light. It was one of the most renowned JP-only VNs before finally getting a localization in June of this year.

Come, gather and bear witness to my opera, now in the making.

Its script is the height of cliché, I am forced to admit. And yet...

Its actors are of the finest fold; beyond exquisite.

Thus, I believe you will find it enthralling.

  6. Final Fantasy V making me feel

Okay, so I get that a lot of the criticisms towards FFV's plot/characters are justified, but I just beat Atomos, and I realize that this entire adventure has just been Galuf slowly losing all of his friends, and its seriously smurfing me up. Seriously though, for a serious often panned for it's melodrama, there's something very subdued and nuanced about the way Galuf mourns Xezat for a game that's normally so tongue-in-cheek. Really loving FFV so far. I had put it down for a while because I was ...

  7. Umineko: Episode 4 Tea Party

by , 07-09-2017 at 09:57 PM (Karifean's Blog of Visual Novels)
You talk too much. All you have to do is honestly say 'I'll kill you'.

For those that don't know, the climaxes of Episodes 4, 5 and 6 are my 3 favorite moments in Umineko (which also makes them my 3 favorite moments in fiction overall), all for their own individual reasons. I've been dying to talk about them for a while. I figured I'd start with the Episode 4 Tea Party, quite possibly the greatest example of Ryukishi's writing skill of them all.

    This post will contain ...

  8. SubaHibi set for late August release

So this probably won't be relevant for most people here since non-PG and all, but SubaHibi, one of the most hyped visual novels in recent memory, is set to be released in English in late August.

The method of release is kind of strange, ngl. Apparently they offer the first chapter of the game in all ages on Steam for 30 bucks and then provide ...

  9. Tekken Outfits!

It's time to share the outfits it took me 2000 fights to unlock in Tekken 7! Unfortunately the customization options are somewhat lacking so I had to reuse clothes. Anywho, enjoy and prepare for a lot of pastel colours

    Alisa:
    (SPOILER)

This first one is just a pallet swap of her default outfit. I like these colours much better. Her hair is also blue and pink, my two fave colours (although not necessarily those shades)

  10. Part of your world

by , 06-06-2017 at 05:37 PM (Fynn's positive life blog)
So there's this nagging issue I've had for quite some time now. It's a pretty abstract issue but one I think is pretty interesting and perhaps even important to share nonetheless. For many reasons, it has only become more pronounced recently.

As some of you may know, I want to be a writer. I try to do as much writing as I can. I even do writing for a living, though as an SEO copywriter, it's not exactly that I have an opportunity to spread my creative wings as part of what keeps giving ...
