For rants and ravings about things going on in the world.

  1. k-pop ^^

I saw a NatGeo documentary about North Korea yesterday. Of course we all know it's pretty much the most retarded country in the world, and the doc did a good job of confirming that once again. They managed to convince the regime to let in a camera crew into the country because they were travelling with an eye surgeon who was going there to teach their doctors how to perform basic surgery on people suffering from blindness because of cataracts (caused by their crap nutrition).

    I think ...

  2. Stuff That Pisses Me Off

Outside of the Egypt fiasco, which everyone is already talking about. I've had some appalling links piling up and needed to rant about them somewhere.

US border agent fired for saying in a casual conversation that legalizing drugs would help stop black market violence. In other words, speaking the truth. People have asked me why I would prefer being a criminal defense attorney to a prosecutor, and they inevitably say that they'd have a terrible moral problem defending a rapist or ...

  3. Innocence Project

I'm working in my law school's Innocence Project clinic this semester. The Innocence Project is one of my favorite non-profits, whose mission it is to find people wrongly convicted of crimes and work to exonerate them. The clinic basically involves getting law school students to do all the work, as the number of people petitioning the Innocence Project is massive. So I will be working to figure out if the clients given to me are innocent. The most well-known (and easiest) way this is done is by ...

  4. It Gets Better... for Christian bigots who get called out for their harassment

Mind-numbing article about the It Gets Better campaign, focusing on the suicides of Christians who have been "harassed by homosexual activists." It is pointedly mentioned that these incidents were not covered by the mainstream media -- obviously because of that homo agenda which permeates the entire country.

Except... the reason the media didn't cover any of these stories is revealed at the end, where it's admitted none of these kids committed suicide. Then wtf was the ...

  5. Constitutional healthcare

Argh, I need sleep, but I just found this so now I need to post/rant about it.

After the Obama-supported healthcare bill (obnoxiously referred to as "Obamacare") was passed, immediately organizations across the nation filed suit. Their main complaint is one portion of the bill's is regarding the law's requirement that if you don't get healthcare, you have to pay the government. The government said this penalty/tax/whatever power is justified under the Commerce Clause. ...

  6. Moral dilemma scenario

You’re the captain of a small yacht. A group of media elites has rented your yacht for a private party. Mid-cruise, Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann get into a heated argument. Pushing and shoving ensues. Both fall overboard. The sea around them is rough and infested with sharks. Without quick action they’ll surely drown or be eaten. You only have one life preserver.

    Hence, the conundrum.

Do you (a) open a nice bottle of wine, or (b) slip below deck to take in a movie? ...

  7. Christopher Hitchens

This evening Christoher Hitchens came to William & Mary to debate with a professor (Professor and former army officer Lawrence Wilkerson) on Middle East policy, that was to be followed by an equal length question-and-answer session, where students could send in questions on any topic. I was excited to see Hitchens, one of the world's most famous atheists, as he is always entertaining -- and this may be my last chance to see him live, because he has terminal cancer. And it was extraordinarily ...

  8. Vote!

I got my "California General Election" booklet in the mail. It's smurfing difficult. I don't feel qualified to make half of these decisions.

The first thing to vote on is prop 19, which would legalize marijuana for personal use. That's an easy yes.

Prop 20 moves the responsibility to determine the boundaries of California's districts from the House or Reps to the Citizens Redistricting Commission. Bwuh? We need a whole commission for redistricting? How did ...
  9. I know who I would support in 2012

We need more politicians like this guy. Too bad he doesn't have a chance in hell, but he seems significantly better than Ron Paul as far as libertarian Republicans go. And I'd support most anyone if I thought they'd really fight to legalize marijuana.

You can tell he has no chance because he appears to be someone who would actually stick to his principles if elected.

  10. The Great Burqa Debate

This came up on facebook a while ago, but for whatever reason I decided not to make an EoEO thread about it. I just realized it was worth a blog post, considering I saved it as a text file and just need to copy/paste. Here you go!

A while ago, an old high school friend of mine made the following Facebook post:

”Just found a very good article detailing the pros and cons of banning islamic veils. The religious freedom arguments are strong, and a ban would be hypocritical, ...
