• Thief Reboot To Hit Next Generation Consoles in 2014

After years of speculation of when Square-Enix would reveal details on the Thief reboot, fans of the series will be very excited to hear that it has been confirmed to be hitting the PlayStation 4 and other next-gen consoles in 2014.

Stephane D'Astous, the General Manager at Eidos Montreal has said: "We're handling a precious gemstone with Thief. Fans remember the original games very fondly and we want to preserve that essence." He also spoke about how important it is to bring Thief to the brand new, next-gen gamers.

The original Thief was released in 1998, and marked a change in gaming. Described as being a 'first-person sneaker' game, it was massively popular for being so different to other games that were available at the time. Now, with so many gaming technologies at the disposal of the creator, it makes you wonder just how they're going to reboot this game, and just how they'll make it stand out from currently popular games of a similar genre like Assassin's Creed.

Following the paramount success of Square-Enix's latest reboot, Tomb Raider, I think it's fair to say that fans of Thief shouldn't be too worried...

Downloaded the Steam pack of the first three Thief games when it was on sale (bargain!) and played a bit of Thief to get the hang of how these games traditionally work, and have enjoyed myself so far. Probably won't be playing it again for some time, though, while I have Tomb Raider and FFXIV keeping me busy for some time to come.
