• Eyes on Final Fantasy Cosplay - Yuna

Welcome to the rather delayed March edition of Eyes on Final Fantasy Cosplay. Sadly due to commitments out in the real world this one ran very late - but hey - better later than never! If you're new to this feature and you're wondering what the deal is then let me explain:

Every couple of weeks we will gather together some of the finest, most daring, most inspired or most colourful cosplays of a beloved Final Fantasy character.

Each time you'll get to vote on who you think is the best cosplayer of the bunch and we'll do our best to try and get an interview with them for you. Last month we looked at the popular villain Sephiroth and our not-quite-as-fearsome winner, Askaroth sat down with us for a chat!

If you're a Cosplayer and you'd like to be featured in this series or if you've simply found some Cosplay that you think should be featured, then please get in touch by sending a Mognet Message to either Aulayna or Melissaur, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

Don't forget to vote for your favourite in the poll and if you have any questions you'd like us to put to March's winner be sure to leave them in the comments!

In this edition, we will be looking at one of the staple characters of Final Fantasy X. From setting out on her pilgrimage the game took us on a journey with her as she developed as a character. She was also arguably the first character from a main series instalment to become the lead character of a sequel and fittingly she represented the world of Spira in the Dissidia 012. Yup, it's none other than the summoner everyone loves (to hate sometimes) Yuna!

Yuna has a very pretty dress sense that has carried over from title to title. Her simple yet elegant summoner attire is the one most reprised in all of her appearances but for the budding Cosplayer the dressphere wardrobe of Final Fantasy X-2 gives them a lot to choose from! These cosplays will be all about representing personality - from blind optimistic hope to ass kicking sass.

Overall Yuna is a kind-hearted, loyal, honest and arguably a humanitarian. She strives to see the best in those around her, occassionally naively misplacing her trust as a result. But one thing for sure is that she has a very strong sense of conviction to complete whatever task she considers her duty. She is willing to carry the burdens of others and sacrifice her own happiness if it means helping others.

However, over the course her story she comes to question some of these motives and becomes more direct and open. Will the cosplays reflect this innocence, drive or realisation?

Geb_Geb is up first with Yuna's classical style complete with her Celestial Weapon. This Yuna looks more at peace with herself though, perhaps this was near the end of her journey. The detail in the sash is really well done.

Merethiel also goes for Yuna's classical appearance re-enacting the very poignant sending scene from Final Fantasy X.

Seyyed shows us the fantastic creative side of the cosplay community. Taking inspiration from the classic styles her friends have banded together to create a Lolita style Final Fantasy X group!

Rinny_san gives us a very fighting fit Alchemist Yuna. Just like the 1980s big shoulderpads and bright colours are the order of the day here. This Yuna looks ready to brawl though so I wouldn't mock her.

Sweet_Angel goes for Berzerker Yuna. Looking rather fierce with those claws and teeth. I would have some funny remarks to make about this but they're probably a bit inappropriate. So, moving on!

Riia goes for Yuna's staple look in Final Fantasy X-2; The Gunner. Complete with the angsty look down at the camera and pistols at the ready you'd almost be mistaken for thinking this Yuna was from The Matrix. If it wasn't for the bright colours and non-streetwise dress sense. Either way, this Yuna is on a mission.

Myrionette brings us the very cute Songstress Yuna. However she doesn't seem very impressed that "it's showtime girls." Perhaps this Yuna is suffering from stage burnout or maybe Rikku is hogging the limelight. Who knows? Oh Myrionette, in the words of that X-2 song... what can I do for you? (other than grab my coat in shame for that terrible quip)

GTabris really does bring us the showtime though with her fantastic cosplay of the tripping Floral Fallal outfit. From the radical dyed background to the radiant hair this Yuna looks set to bring about peace on Earth - most likely whilst gushing about The Beatles in the process.

Nessa is looking all doting and pretty as Yuna on her wedding day. Her facial expression does seem to capture what I'm now going to term as "Altar Remorse." I'm guess it's not Tidus she's stood there waiting for... and if it is, then maybe he should've been the bride as he's clearly late!

London2191 takes us from one Yuna to another blushing bride who seems equally as unimpressed to be on what looks like a Bevelle skywalk. Just imagine that photo as your point of view as Seymour. Look what you've done you sly, big foreheaded, spikey haired, tattoo'ed barechested ... fiend! Actually who am I kidding - I just *love* that wedding dress and I'm jealous.

Well that wraps up this edition! True story, this editor actually really wanted to cosplay as Yuna once upon a time. Then she realised she'd look about as attractive and convincing as Dawn French in a bikini (which if you're into that kind of thing - no, I'm not doing it!) so, sad times!

Remember to comment below with your thoughts. Which did you think was the best - be sure to vote for them in the poll! What details in the costumes did you like the most? Did you think Lolita Final Fantasy X was as cool as I did? If you could cosplay as Yuna which outfit would you choose?

Most of all if you have any questions you'd like pitted toward the Yuna you vote to be the best - post them below!

April's edition will be landing sometime in... April... maybe... hopefully. Who will it be this time? Well riddle me this - if you had to get a belt for your tight leather trousers - how many would you need? Just the one? Or at least 2?

The riddle about belts make me hint about Lulu. But anyway.

      I'm really feeling the following:

      - Myrionette: She has a very good costume, and I love how her hair is done. Easily one of my favourites. Her facial expression too is quite nice. It's not stern, more contemplative and at ease. Which is classic Yuna face right there.

      - Geb_Geb: Classic Yuna outfit and it doesn't disappoint. Clearly much was taken on the costume, like with Myrionette. Again, the facial expression suits the mood of the picture. That little bit of leg showing from her skirt is slightly revealing as well!

      - Riia: The main appeal for this one is more the pose, and the general mood and facial expression. The outfit itself is fine, but it is mainly the pose. It's something you'd see on an action movie poster. I love it.

And a honourable mention to GTabris, while it's not in my favourites, the level of detail and effort is stunning. But to conclude, I'll go with Myrionette. I loved it the most!

I'm betting another cosplay feature will be Vincent Valentine from FFVII; if so then I got some cosplaying images for you!

Anyway, my vote is on Geg_Geg. She got the right traditional style and looks almost exactly like Yuna. And the pose is so elegant and graceful.
