I would like to see information for Versus. I would like to see information for Type-0. If all I heard from SE this year was pretty much 'remake, phone game and another remake' I will be disappointed from the Final Fantasy front.

I think at this point we need some solid info on Versus and/or XV. And for god's sake, I hope if they announce XV that Ito is directing again. He's one of the better people they have working there and we've heard pretty much nothing from him since XII.

There has been rumors that sony has given rights to Versus and KH3 to be exclusives on the PS4. And that they'll be shown at E3. But those are just rumors as of yet

I'd seen those rumours. Who knows if there will be any truth to them. I'm not sure it makes a whole lot of sense to go exclusive unless Sony is paying them quite a bit for it. If anything it would have made more sense with this generation since the consoles were so different architecture wise. The next-gen ones aren't nearly as dissimilar and thus easier to port to and from.

Well KH 1.5 and FF X/X-2 remakes are PS3 and PS3/VITA only. Sooooo they already have kinda bonded with Sony with those.

It's not unheard of for publishers to make announcements during the events though so hopefully they still have something underwraps.

      If not, then... well... gg

I'm sure the next-gen FF will probably show up in the Sony event. Doubt it will appear in their booth. Honestly, SE usually saves their biggest reveals for the Tokyo Game Show or their own private reveal party.

Yeah, if they showed off a next-gen FF at the Sony PS4 reveal, it's unlikely that they're not going to show more at E3. And seeing that Versus was using the new engine that caters for next-gen power, it's more than likely that it is now the next Final Fantasy. I just hope it doesn't break under the weight of its hype.

I'm already of the opinion that its too late for Versus XIII to escape the monumental hype. It could be one of the best things to come out of the studios in years, but I feel the waiting and hype engine has already blown some people's expectations for it out of proportion and it will probably not live up to anyone's expectations.

^ if anything, a truly great game by Square Enix would unfathomably surpass everyone's expectations.

Also, I've never heard a game being a victim to monumental hype.

This list can keep going if you wish.

My point though is that even if the game is good, the sheer volume of weight and anticipation will most likely amplify any flaws the game has for people because when you spend almost a decade making a game, you want to see results. FFXII had a similar development issue and at least showed off the type of tech that explains why it took five years to make, but it still didn't change the fact that many fans didn't receive it as well as SE would have hoped. I mean maybe you forget what this forum was like in 2006/2007 but I remember people bitching about the dumbest things about that game and while that is completely normal for a new entry in its hazing process, I still feel its a good indicator of the kind of rough treatment that Versus XIII is going to get whenever/if it does get released.

I kind of feel we've moved into a time when even the fans and gaming industry are no longer super excited for a new FF. I think more people in the fanbase and industry are more interested in the HD remakes of FFX and X-2 than Versus XIII at the moment.

Uh, Wolf, a lot of those games were actually very well received, the ones that weren't fell because of their merits as a game, not because of hype. Can you name any games that don't fall into either category and genuinely did suffer from their anticipation?

If no one's excited for it, how could it be a victim of its own hype???
