• Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer XLVIII: Looking Ahead to A Realm Reborn

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn producer Naoki Yoshida has given out his 48th Letter from the Producer. Yoshi-P hinted at the promise of what is to come when A Realm Reborn is finally released, and provided us with some exciting new screenshots.

Yoshi-P informed us that while the while the main game will cap at level 50, they are still working on adding and tweaking end-game content. As one example, while Ifrit is a main scenario boss at level 20, there will be a harder version post-50. Other similarly challenging endgame fights will be necessary in order to earn primal weapons.

While no real new information is provided at this stage, Yoshi-P gifted us with some screenshots of these upper-level fights and quests. First up is a few screenshots of an epic fight with the massive Titan (click for full size):

The main story battle will involve 4 people, but the endgame version of Titan will require 8.

While trying to take screenshots, Yoshi-P fell out of the ring. Feel free to point and laugh.

Titan dealing heavy damage to Yoshi-P’s character. Also, take note of all the dead party members. Losers.

Apparently Titan dealt so much damage that the developers had previously decided that it needed to be toned down. Though during that fight one dev admitted he had actually raised the damage for one of its attacks (the name of which was notably blacked out from the screenshot), which may have been why Titan made such quick work of them. (or at least, that’s their excuse and they’re sticking to it)

Yoshi-P also presented us with screenshots of a fight with Demon Wall, a recurring Final Fantasy boss that fans of the series will be very familiar with, and a relic weapon quest.

The fight against Demon Wall. How annoying was this guy the first time you played Final Fantasy VII?

A portion of a relic weapon quest with all the info blacked out. That sneaky Yoshi-P.

That is all the updates for now, but there will be plenty more soon to come. The next Live Letter is planned for August 8, 2013 at 5:00 AM PST, and those always contain lots of info. If you’d like to submit a question to see if it will be asked, you can do so here.

Stay tuned, and try not to go into withdrawal while awaiting the open beta.
