• Kickstarter Underway for Yasumi Matsuno's "Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians"

Fans of Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII should be excited for the ongoing Kickstarter campaign for Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians. Former Square Enix game director Yasumi Matsuno is teaming up with mobile developer Playdek to create a new strategy RPG for iOS and Android. However, if their Kickstarter campaign is funded, the team will develop an enhanced version of the game that is much broader in scope for PC, Mac, and Linux. Unsung Story will also make its way to Vita, PS4, and 3DS if funding meets a number of stretch goals. Longtime Matsuno collaborators and Square Enix alumni are additionally lined up for stretch goals. Character designer Akihiko Yoshida (Bravely Default, Final Fantasy XII) has agreed to join the core team if the funding goal is met. Alexander O. Smith (Phoenix Wright, Final Fantasy X) and Joseph Reeder (Final Fantasy X-2, Tactics Ogre) will join the team if the first stretch goal is hit. Renowned game composer Hitoshi Sakimoto (Vagrant Story, Valkyria Chronicles) will score the title if funding reaches $1 million.

The campaign is nearing $450k with 16 days to go to reach its $600k goal. Funding options include the wide variety of tiers and rewards we've come to expect from the typical Kickstarter. Backers can receive a digital copy of the game, on the platform of their choice, starting at the $20 level.
