• FanArt Friday! Final Fantasy Fan Art Showcase of the Week #102 - Part One!

Welcome to another edition of Final Fantasy Fan Art Showcase of the Week, where we show the best of the best from DeviantArt! Last week's artwork had some stunning creations on display, and this week we'll see a new set of artists get a chance to show off their skills. And what's more - this is just part one! I'll be submitting two articles today because the art was great this week and I feel like being extra generous. I hope you enjoy both of today's showcases - look out for the next one, it'll be soon! But you're not here for the text... let's get on with the art!

    Steiner by Fenrir--the-2nd

Let's kick off this showcase with an incredible piece by Fenrir--the-2nd, real name Lorenzo, of Italy. This beautiful work of art is part of a tribute, created for the Game Art HQ and Overclocked Remix sites. I've been browsing their stuff and I have to say I'm really impressed! Worth checking out. As for Lorenzo's piece - fantastic! That is without doubt the most badass Steiner art I have seen in my life. So freakin' cool.

    Promise by Rule404

If Steiner's glare has left you feeling a little uneasy, it's time to calm down, relax and lose yourself in the warmth of the next work of art - a beautiful image of Squall and Rinoa in each other's arms. I'm trying to figure out if they look older or younger, but they're definitely different - and I love it! Squall in particular is showing off a longer hairdo, reminding us all of his father's excellent genes, while both of the pair sport a different attire than you'll find in the game. I find this excellently coloured piece to be really touching.

    Shiva Vs Monk by shiroifushicho

Time for action! I'm actually having to tear myself away from Final Fantasy XIV to put this article together, although I'm more of a crafter/gatherer than a fighter. My wife, however, and all of the rest of the Fat Chocobos free company, are always fighting Shiva. Seriously, they farm that poor lady for hours. Retaureau Antoine - that's shiroifushicho, the artist - created this work of art for the London Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, yet unfortunately she never heard back from Square Enix. Here's hoping a little showcasing at Eyes on Final Fantasy will help ease the pain, Retaureau! This is an excellent piece, the linework is amazing, and Shiva and the monk have been expertly captured. Well done!

Get piled in da gifts!! by Ariyx

I'm not going to pretend I've played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 (I've played TA, though!) but I know good art when I see it. This was a little late when it comes to the Christmas artwork (the poor artist got a bout of flu), but it's too good to leave out! Here we see some of the most colourful Christmas art I've laid my eyes on, gloriously overflowing with presents and a clearly delighted Luso sitting amongst them underneath the Christmas tree. Beautiful work!

    Yuna Rikku Paine by HappySmileGear

Well we started off with Steiner looking like he's in his classic bad mood, let's end it on some ladies in better spirits! Yuna, Rikku and Paine made up the playable cast of Final Fantasy X-2 and it's a cult hit at EoFF, often praised as having some of the best gameplay in the entire Final Fantasy series. This delightfully cute and colourful creation has been put together by HappySmileGear who was clearly inspired by replaying FFX-2 recently. She's aiming to get a 100% complete game - all the best with it, Kelsey, and be sure to keep that Final Fantasy FanArt coming, it's gorgeous!

Crisis Core Final Fantasy by Akira0617 (Cloud cosplay) and Jerry, of JxR Cosworks[/url] (Zack cosplay)

It's time for this week's Cosplay of the Week (Part One of Two)! Often we see the perfect costume, the perfect attitude or the perfect photograph, but in this one it's a touch of all three with a whole lot of excellent creativity. I really love the double shot that makes up this Cosplay, they clearly didn't just think "Let's get a photo of us standing around looking cool" - they went one further and recreated a part of the game and as far as I'm concerned, they made the right choice. It's awesome! I get the feels from just looking at the image - beautifully taken, you've caught our attention! Keep on cosplaying!

What do you think of all these wonderful pieces? Are you on DeviantArt? Do you have any favourite artists there? Let us know by leaving comments on this article and, of course, click the photos to be taken to the respective DA pages so you can leave comments for them, too! Agreed, it is so good. It looks lifelike and yet you can easily see its Steiner from FF9, that's impressive!
