    Yes, we're still not quite to Kingdom Hearts 3 yet. Square Enix revealed that Kingdom Hearts 2.8 is in development. What is Kingdom Hearts 2.8, you ask? Well just a few years ago, the most recent Kingdom Hearts was released for 3DS, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance. Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will be the HD version of Dream Drop on the Playstation 4. It's not only an HD remaster this time, we've got some brand new content as well!

    Kingdom Hearts 2.8 will also feature a brand new playable episode called Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage –. This new Birth by Sleep episode will feature Aqua and will take place after the original Birth by Sleep has ended. This new episode will connect the stories to Kingdom Hearts 3



    On top of that, there will be a new movie for Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] Back Cover. This will tell the story of the Foretellers, which will connect earlier parts of the series history, and will be featured in the upcoming mobile game Kingdom Hearts Unchainedχ[chi].

    So you'll be getting an HD Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, a new Birth by Sleep episode, and a movie to recap Kingdom Hearts Unchainedχ[chi]. That's a lot to swallow!

    Of course, they can't announce just anything and not give you a taste of what the new remaster looks like! They also released some beautiful screenshots today. Take a look!

      Now just give us 1.5 and 2.5 on the PS4 and we're good to go!

      And Formy, don't worry - 3D leads directly into III, so there shouldn't be a 2.9

      Well, I'm happy to be getting more Aqua at least. But this is not helping with the unholy mess that is the Kingdom Hearts game library. I mean, the fact that "Kingdom Hearts II.8" includes within it a game called "Kingdom Hearts 0.2 something something" is just taking the smurf.

      I'm pretty convinced that it probably was changed from 2.9 to 2.8 for some.. strange... reason.

      Well, it is entirely brand new! So probably! It looks reallllllly pretty though. If htat's the new engine, oh boy!

      Yeah, it does look like the KHIII gameplay!


      Oh man, I wanna play as Aqua again so bad >< Her and Riku are like the best thing about KH!

      Aqua looking crisp in this, but I'll pass on it since the only thing of remote interest to me is Kingdom Hearts DDD.

      I'm hoping the 2.9 turns out to be a compilation of all the games, but whatever~ Hooray for more Aqua!

      I think I'll hold off on this because I'm 80% sure that all of these are going to be re-released on PS4 and I'd like to play them in the correct order before KH3 comes out.

      I said "these", not "this", so yeah, I was referring to the previous remixes.

      Ah, okay. I understood "these" as Dream Drop Distance, 0.2 Birth by Sleep and χ Back Cover, hence my confusion

      Still, yeaH, it'd be awesome if they released a bundle of all the HD remixes for the PS4 before KHIII comes out.

      2.8 + 0.2 = 3.0

      My guess is that's what the numbers mean and this is definitely the last KH release before KH3.

      I love me some BBS and Aqua is a strong character but I wasn't too thrilled with 3D and that extra episode probably isn't worth the purchahse.

      I'm thrilled. I always wanted to play 3D but couldn't bring myself to buy a 3DS.

      The only bad thing about this is that it's pretty much confirmation that the earliest KH3 will come out is 2017.
