• New Dissidia Final Fantasy Trailer Hits the Web

Square Enix just revealed the latest trailer for the new Dissidia Final Fantasy last night and it is great. The trailer opens with a sweeping view of glances of the cast with the first look and confirmation of Zidane, Tidus, Shantotto, and Vaan. The trailer proceeds with gameplay footage of each character that will be playable when the game launches in Japanese arcades next month.

Dissidia Final Fantasy looks to be shaping up nicely. What characters would you like to see in the game next?

How does Vaan not have a last name? And god damn it SE for changing Terra to Tina. The hair was already bad enough. I don't care what the original plan was, you released the original game that way, live with it!

As for the game itself I will try to keep my enthusiasm down until it gets a console release date.

Vaan never had a given last name, same as Tidus. Also it's the Japanese trailer so Terra is indeed Tina.

My bad, in that case Tina would be appropriate, my bad for not thinking of that.

That's super weird that protagonists from later games never got last names.

In Tidus' case, I don't believe anyone has any last name except maybe Seymour. In XII's case, it's probably due to Vaan and Penelo being lower born orphans.

      13 doesn't come after 1, silly trailer.

I'd like to see Tifa, Aerith, Rinoa, Yuna, and Ashe in the game.

This reminds me I still have the first two Dissidia games I need to play more of.

A new trailer was released today. Apparently they are going to release a trailer for each character in the game so we get to start of with the original Warrior of Light.

Playstyle: A very balanced fighter who is excellent at mid-to close range. His Shield of Light can nullify all Bravery attacks and he has the ability to temporarily boost his stats.

EX Skill: Holy Chain - Provokes enemy group and makes him their primary target.

The lead Rebel with a penchant for roses is here.

Ground and combo specialist. Firion has powerful attacks with excellent range like his original version. He can even switch up combos if they don't necessarily land since he seems to have a playstyle which involves mixing up his attacks.

Ex Skill: ??? From the video it looks like he still has access to Blood Weapon so I'm guessing it's the same.

This game is going to have a whole lot of trailers.

Third trailer out. Besaid Beach confirmed as new battle ground for FFX.

Onion Knight largely plays like his EX Mode from the original, he has the ability to switch from Ninja (short range with good combos) to Sage (long range with strong attacks) at whim and he's considered one of the more versatile members of the game who can work in any party situation.

      EX Skill: ???

These new trailers actually made me less hype. Initially the game looked like it was going to be a bit less floaty than the last two games, but these definitely show it's going to be the same.

It's Cecil Harvey's turn. Also looks like Narshe Snowfield is confirmed as VI's new arena.

Cecil is considered a heavy type fighter who can manually switch from Dark Knight to Paladin. Dark Knight specializes in long range ground moves while Paladin is purely mid-air with good range. Unlike Onion Knight, Cecil gets a temporary boost every time he switches between his two forms, meaning his most damaging combos will involve chaining together his two very different move-sets.

Bartz Klauser is here today, fighting in Midgard.

Bartz is a Unique type fighter and is the first character to really change his playstyle. Bartz has different attacks that cover a whole range of moves like punching, swords, magic, spears and so forth. Every time he attacks with a certain move his damage and speed increase until he masters it. So Bartz is a bit of a slow burner who becomes more deadly as the fight drags on. If he masters all of his different move sets he gains the three stars overhead (sign of a Mastered job in V) and gets a tone of buffs that make him a force to be reckoned with.

EX Skill: Good Luck Charm - Any Buffs Bartz has obtained are shared with the whole party making him an excellent team player and most likely a high priority target in battles.

Time for us to see Terra Branford in action.

Terra is a Shooter specialist with a new playstyle as well. Terra's magic can be charged which affects their power, range and property. If she fires her spells with little charge time, they are weak but incredible fast with good combos, if she charges them they can be powerful attacks that will rip through the battle field and hit multiple opponents. Her style is about balancing quick attacks with charged powerful attacks.

EX Skill: Trance - Terra transforms into her Esper form and gains large boosts to her stats making her more dangerous.

Strange hearing Dancing Mad to her. I don't mind it, but it's still strange as I associate that with Kefka. Only thing that would've made it perfect would've been adding Terra Theme somewhere in there.

I don't feel like I need to really introduce this one.

Cloud plays like a melee version of Terra where he can charge his attacks to increase their damage and give them special properties like Guard Break. He's a heavy type fighter with good range and a great choice for frontline fighters.

EX-Skill: Limit Break - The description is vague but it looks like it augments his abilities, possible making all his attacks their fully charges variation.

Cloud beating up on VI and IX representatives. The internet is going to have a field day with that one.

Love him or hate him, Square's most infamous moody hero is here.

Squall actually plays a bit like Kain from the original, his power increases by timing his attacks together and making long strings of combos which seeing how Squall is still a speed type character means this will be easy.

EX-Skill: Draw and Junction - Squall draws energy from his opponents which boost his moves giving them similar effects to his Lionheart EX mode from the original.
