• Happy Birthday FFX-2!

Today is the birthday of Final Fantasy X-2, the sequel to Final Fantasy X. Following Yuna, Rikku, and mysterious newcomer Paine after the events of Final Fantasy X, the story focuses mostly on finding lost love and the aftermath of the events from the first game. Yuna, Rikku, and Paine, are now sphere hunters, seeking out spheres which contain the secrets of Spira.

X-2 is much more lighthearted than its predecessor, something some players enjoyed and something that others did not appreciate as much. The game also incorporates job classes, called "Dresspheres", which the ladies can use to change jobs on the fly in battle. These also come with nifty outfit changes. It progresses by Chapter with the player being free (and encouraged) to check out as much as they can in each Chapter before proceeding.

Final Fantasy X-2 was one of the things that sparked my interest in the series. A cast of all females with outfit changes? Uh, yeah! Little me was pumped up for this game. Sadly it had only been announced and not yet released, but in the meantime I got to check out some of the earlier games in the series which ignited my love of RPG's! I enjoy how fun and hammy the game can be at times, although there are some groan worthy moments. But overall this is one of my favourite games in the series and I replay it quite often!

What are some memories you have with this game? What are your favourite aspects? Have you played the re-release? Come celebrate the anniversary of Final Fantasy X-2!

I remember the massage scene, being awkward as smurf, not liking the pop scenes, thinking the story was whatever, but the battle system being incredible. I've only beat the game one time and I remember the second time around, the final boss giving me a lot of trouble for some reason. A lot of jobs to experiment with, though I found some too tricky to get. I would love to play this game again someday, but who knows when that will be.

FFX-2 is one of those games I just keep growing more and more fond of over time. I don't really care about the plot beyond the Ex-Crimson Squad, but this is the most fun I've ever had playing a game. It has bar none the best combat system in the series as well as some of the best optional challenges.

While the story line confused the hell out of me, the combat is on point imo.

Did you beat Via Purifico or that cave in the cactuar desert?

I beat everything several times over.

And yet I'm still learning new things about it even now.
