• Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector's Edition sold out... in 30 minutes!

If you wanted to get your hands on the spiffy new Ultimate Collector's edition, I'm afraid all the 30,000 copies that were put up for distribution have been sold out... within 30 minutes from being put up for sale on SE's official store!

This figure is nothing to sneeze at, considering how much the hype had died down in the years we've been waiting for Final Fantasy XV. Many fans, among them members of our community, have decried the game as a failure simply for the fact that it cannot possibly turn out to be a good game, let alone a great one, after such a long waiting period. There has been a sense of betrayal, almost, among fans who throughout the turbulent development cycle including shifting directors, replacing female characters, etc., simply lost their patience. And yet here we are - fans are coming in door and window, culminating in this monumental sales record. It's safe to say the Uncovered event has won us back.

So if you managed to get your hands on this - well done! If you didn't, here's what you missed. The Ultimate Collector's Edition of Final Fantasy XV contained the game itself, a hardcover artbook, a steelbook for your game, a soundtrack, the entire Brotherhood web original anime with an additional, disc-excluisive episode, the Kingsglaive CGI film, a Noctis poseable figure, and a healthy dose of in-game bonus content. And how much would that cost you? Oh, just a measly $269.99. Ebay is already flooded with this edition going for as high as triple the amount!

All you Collector's Edition junkies don't need to worry, though, as Final Fantasy XV will have another one of these called the Deluxe Collector's Edition. It's basically the same minus Brotherhood, the soundtrack, some of the in-game bonuses, and the Noctis figurine. Thanks to that, it's also much cheaper - only $89.99.

Will you be getting the Deluxe Edition then, or will you track down the Ultimate Edition on ebay? Let us know!

That's just ridiculous. I am blown away it went that quickly. Maybe this, and how much of a positive reception to the XV event, we'll see more special events and special editions from SE.

Final Fantasy XV has to sell 10 million copies to succeed

They should probably make some more available... Prompto.

      I wouldn't be surprised if pre-orders exceeded 10 million

Took around 6 hours to sell out in Europe.

I didn't manage to pick one up in the end due to stupid region locked stores and Square Enix assuming that because I'm in France, I want a French version.... and that's even on top of it not being immediately available until like 5 hours after the Uncovered event.

So upset. Been waiting for this game for long.

      :/

Was it just locking it for the big one or are you able to at least get the deluxe version?

Deluxe is easy enough to get, can get it from Amazon.co.uk for example.

I really wanted the CE, I've got the CEs for the majority of post-FFVII games that have had CEs.

      My ordeal involved:

      a) not being able to order a non-French version
      b) VPN'ing into my old Irish account, only to find out that it claimed that Ireland wasn't a supported country (even though I got my FFXIV CE, Heavensward CE, Type-0 HD CE and PS3/PS4 FFX/X-2 CEs shipped to Ireland)
      c) VPN'ing to pretend to be in the UK so I could get it shipped to a friend in the UK, wouldn't let me
      d) asking my Nan to order it for me and get it shipped to her place in the UK, only she didn't get home in time so it'd sold out by then

      Arrrgh.

And now scalpers are selling them on eBay for at least double the price because the pre-orders don't get billed until 10 days before release and despite only being 30,000 copies worldwide there was no limit on the number of copies a single person could order. So yeah scalpers just pre-order loads and listed on eBay for double the price - nice tasty profit there.

Oh man that is super cruddy. I feel bad for you. That's such crud that they region locked you! maybe they'll release a second wave at another time.

I hope so too. I'm serially considering sinking €500+ into one on eBay right now.

FeelsBadMan, I feel you Aulayna, as I went through the same process.
I also live in France, and just like you I wanted an English version, badly.

I knew I had to use a VPN to create an account on the website of SE Shop EU, UK, NA, but I just don't have the skills.
So as I can't register an account in another region than France, and as the minutes were passing by, I ended up picking the UCE version on my account registered in France.
So I assume the box will be written in french, but at least I will be playing in english.

At least you guys had a chance, they only released around 80-100 copies for the entirety of Australia. Sold out within seconds from JB Hi Fi, and EB Games are only giving people with a maximum loyalty level a chance to get it. Super bummed, but then again I really don't need to be spending $400AUD on a game.

This is only partly true. 30,000 copies allocated, but not all of them would of been allocated to just NA. Just what was allocated was just sold out.

I know this to be true, as I bought mine from the EU store 4 hours after they went on sale in NA, due to it not being on the site until 9am British time.
