• Final Fantasy VII Remake will feature Full Game Episodes

According to the latest issue of Game Informer, the remake of Final Fantasy VII won't only be released in episodic form, but each one will be the size of a full game, comparable in size to each Final Fantasy XIII game. According to producer Yoshinori Kitase, "It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series. In XIII, each installment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense. Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series... So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game."

He also mentioned that the story would be modernized, "I, along with [Tetsuya] Nomura-san and [Kazushige] Nojima-san--who are involved with the remake--were also involved with the original Final Fantasy," Kitase said. "We were the people who created it, so in that sense, we don't think anything is untouchable. That isn't to say we're changing everything!"

Square Enix has still yet to announce a release date. It's likely that the game, which is set for release on the Playstation 4, won't see the light of day until well after Final Fantasy XV's September 30th release.

Here's the trailer that was released in December:

Barret didn't wear sunglasses in the original. They're changing too much. LEAVE MY BELOVED FFVII ALONE!

Also, why would you wear sunglasses at night down a dark alley?

if a gunarm isn't enough to do that, then I question what else will work.

Maybe if he took off his sunglasses, he would clearly see that he was about to kill innocent people by blowing up the No.1 Reactor.

EDIT: Back on topic though, I hope the episodes aren't too expensive. Babies are expensive

Well, it's not SE's fault that you decided to have one. So you can blame no one but yourself

Yeah, everyone knows SE fans are terrible nerds who spend all their time and money playing games; how can you even *make* a baby between gaming sessions?

How would that not make sense?

Full game as in, you start from level 1 each time? Or are you playing the whole story each time but from a different perspective? Or is it encompassing Crisis Core and Advent Children, so Episode 1 = CC, Episode 2 = FFVII, Episode 3 = AC? That is the only parallel FFVII has with XIII. The main FFVII game in no way is similar to how the stories unfold in XIII, XIII-2 and LR.

      Kitase is making no sense.

That was my reaction when I just read that quote. I get that the budget for a graphically enhanced game of FF 7's scope is more expensive, but I miss the days when each new entry in the series could tell a huge and epic story in a single game. The story had no need back then to be split into installments, aside from the budget needed I don't see any reason to now.

or maybe they just want to milk as much money out of the most populour FF and have no real other reason.
      idk

I think the not make sense was referring to the fact that it doesn't make sense for them to only make us pay for the game once.

Ehhhh. How many FFXIII sized games can you make out of FFVII? Two, if you're really pushing it?A lot of new content will be needed. I don't really have faith that this is something that will be delivered but more information is needed.
