• New World of Final Fantasy Gameplay and Information

World of Final Fantasy will be out this October just a month after Final Fantasy XV and Square Enix has some more footage and details about this upcoming spinoff.

PlayStation Access has managed to play a new demo of the game focusing on the game's battle system. In this footage we can see familiar enemies such as Bombs, Tonberries, and Mandragoras. You can catch monsters ala Pokemon by wittling their health to a certain point and imprisoning them. Monsters or mirages as they're called in this game, can be stacked on your character's head to grant them abilities in battle like two fire monsters can grant you access to the Firaja spell. These mirages can even evolve just like Pokemon and have their own skill tree.

Summons in this game seem to have been replaced by the medal system in which you can summon characters from the mainline series to perform an attack. In this demo we can see Tidus from Final Fantasy X being called forth to perform his best Overdrive Blitz Ace. The animation can be quite long and repetitive when used multiple times, but fortunately Square Enix added a speed up option in the game that you activate by pressing R1 which doubles the speed of all actions in battle. You can also make grinding easier by tapping the touch pad to activate an auto battle mode which repeats your actions.

These additions are nice, but honestly they should be designed so it isn't necessary. What do you think of the gameplay and information revealed? Does it make you more interested in this game?

Idk if it can be said that the game should be designed so they're not necessary. Some people like watching long flashy animations every time, others might just want to watch them once in a while. So it's good that there's options.

The game's looking as cute as it did before! I'll probably play it at some point, but it's not like this is a must-buy for me that I just can't wait to get my hands on.

Yeah, I usually don't mind summon animations playing out, personally. They were big show-stoppers in most of the games I played them with, not something you did every battle. So I didn't mind the time sink.

Apart from looking pretty this game just isn't doing it for me, although I kinda like how you can summon characters from the mainline games! It'll be interesting to see other characters attacks.

So, is this game some kind of cute version of Dissidia? (Also bear in mind my knowledge about Dissidia is basic, its like an FF Mash up)

Dissidia is a fighting game. This is a full sized FF RPG. Both are mash ups however.

I am personally still loving the look of World of Final Fantasy.
