• Day 1 Patch details

So with the street date broken, we all now know the game has a 7GB patch for day one, today, SE released a statement detailing what to expect from it as well as a statement from FFXV Director Tabata apologizing for the game breaking its street date and warning players to be wary of FFXV news that may spoil the game for people.

    The Patch update includes:

    • Camera Improvements in narrow passage ways.
    • An ability tree for the new Wait Mode
    • A "Monster Whistle" to help players attract monsters to them.
    • New event scenes from Kingsglaive and Omen trailer are being added in.
    • New fish and recipes to be added, as well as a gallery mode for them.
    • Social Network function, so players can upload Prompto's photos to Facebook and other social media sites.

Here is Tabata's message for the fans concerning the breach in the game's release date.

“It’s our big goal to have everyone enjoy the story of Final Fantasy XV and discover its surprises through the simultaneous global release. What was the point of pushing it back to fix things if they didn't and we still need a day 1 patch?

Because they didn't want a bigger Day 1 patch!

I think the game is still playable without this patch, these are just QOL things.

I dunno, I asked the same question. xD

Barring the camera fix, most of this is just added content rather than bug fixes and what not. Technically you can can start up and play XV without the patch from what I've read since most of it is not detrimental to the game functioning. I'm pretty sure the delay was meant to reduce the likelihood of the game pulling an AC: Unity with glitches galore.

They did fix things, but they wanted to make the game even better.

Most of the patch size is probably just prerendered cutscenes from kingsglaive etc.
