Hasn't this been known for a while now?

Technically, Heroes I and II being on Switch is new. But yeah, X and XI being on there is no news. Unless this is some roudabout way of saying the West will get it on there as well. Which I doubt this is doing. No official word on those two games getting here yet whatsoever.

I should note that the Switch is region-free, so if they include English as a language option (doubt it, unless they plan on releasing it in the West) you can still play it.

No you can't - at least for X - because SE have issued an IP ban on anyone not playing from Japan or China. The PC is region-free as well and yet people still can't play Dragon Quest X here.

Dragon Quest X is an online game?

Yes, which is exactly why we don't have it yet even though it's been out for years.

Which is a shame since it's apparently different to most MMOs on the market and has one of the coolest stories in the series. And all the post-game quests are series throwbacks instead of just regular grind feats.

      Sigh

The games are region-free. However, accounts are locked into a region, so using the e-shop & online support is tied to a region. Fortunately, Nintendo is allowing up to 8 accounts per Switch, so you can create an account for various regions. This probably can be used to play DQX outside of Japan. This video here explains the region thing a bit:

Like I said, even if you make a separate account, you won't be able to log on to the game's server because of the IP ban. No lack of region locking will help you if SE themselves have issued an IP ban for all territories outside Japan and China. So you can download the change client, sure, but you won't be able to play anyway.
