• Two new FF7 Remake screenshots revealed.

Two new images for Final Fantasy 7 Remake have been revealed at MAGIC (Monaco Anime Game International Conferences) 2017.

At the event, Tetsuya Nomura explained that he has put a "lot of attention" into the combat system so that it will occur without interruption, and stated that the development team was having some issues with the grenades. Party members will not take damage from grenades.

In addition, an image of the Scorpion boss was shown. According to Nomura, the scenery will be partly destructible. The director apologized for not being able to show a video, as Square Enix did not allow him to.

Finally, he stated that the menus were not final, and that he will "talk more on another occasion."

As with the limited footage we've seen, it all looks very XVish. Which isn't a bad thing, the battle system in XV was fun for what it was.

I wouldn't even want them to remake Xenogears, which is my favorite mothersmurfing game of all time.

I disagree. I don't mind them trying to change up the battle system a little bit, but I thought XV's combat was easily one of the worst in the series. Really don't want them to copy or imitate it in any way.

The first screen kind of turns me off a bit. Cover mechanics have absolutely no place in a Final Fantasy game.

Also considering this footage is probably from the first 20 minutes of the game, it definitely seems like it's still a very very long way off. People have already started calling this Versus VII.

Fair enough, to each their own. I don't think the cover mechanics will be any different from XV, which were a far cry from traditional third person cover based shooters and as such I don't have a problem with its inclusion for those reasons. However I think the ability to use white magic would make the use of cover to restore HP a la FFXV redundant so who knows.

looks good to me, i like how sleek the interface is... for the cover, i don't think it'll be any different from XV, basically never used because curatives do a faster job, unless the player just doesn't stock up... also notice how in both of the screenshots "Materia" is grayed out, my guess is it's a placeholder for another command to be added later or removed entirely... i also think the "Guard" command will be absent and made entirely automatic, since it seems your party members go on autopilot when you change lead party member ala XII... looks like situational and positional awareness will be necessary too, look at all the targets on the ground around Guard Scorpion... so far looking good, i expect things to change between now and release but, right now i like what i see...

The cover mechanic worked fairly well in The Last Story, and that game had a pretty FF feel, since it was made by Sakaguchi

I have no feelings toward this, either way.

After FFXV I'm taking anything they release with a massive grain of salt, my consumer confidence in the FF brand is at an all time low right now (not just because of FFXV, before anyone lynches me).

Plus in the past when publishers like EA and Ubisoft have released screenshots only it's because they touched them up to the nines in Photoshop.

For a purely speculatory point of view, it's interesting that there's an ATB bar with what looks like a charge indicator. Maybe the battle system will be similar to Eternal Sonata's where you're free to run around and use abilities (within limit) until the turn timer has depleted (and incidentally in that game there were elements like light and dark patches on the battlefield which would provide buffs/debuffs).

Looks cool, but I'm with Fynn that we shouldn't read into any gameplay related stuff from what we see here. Fool me twice Nomura, shame on me.

Since the game is going to have a lot of changes but keep the essence of the game. What would you guys like to see in the game? I want to see what kind of Fmv will have voice acting? Since we know it's going to be in episodes when will each episode stop? I wonder are they going to change the design of certain scenes or keep them like the original game? Will Sephiroth still be the main villain of the game or not? Since we don't know the exact story line all we can do is guess. I can't wait to see the airstrip in 3D. Of course it's going to take a long time to make the game. Everyone sit back grab a snack and something cool to drink because we are in for one long ride ha

We do know the exact storyline. They will tinker with the story but make no drastic changes. Sephiroth not being the main villain is a drastic change. If anything some changes include a bit more consistency with the Compilation that was recently stated to right now not be really fitting with what they have.

Whatever square decides it will be exciting to see the game in 3D. I wonder who will do the soundtrack?

They have to do Seph as the main big bad- I mean, he's super popular and they would just get too much hate if they didn't.

Yeah, Sephiroth is one of the all-time great Final Fantasy villains. He will clearly be the main antagonist with Shinra in the mix too.

I'm sure SE know it's going to be impossible to please everybody. If it's going to be similar in looks to FFXV then I'm happy. Granted, I haven't completed that game yet but that's only because I've spent 40 hours exploring the world. Now, give me the same thing but the world of FFVII? Hell, I'll be on 400 hours before I'm even halfway through the full game.

To please everyone will be an impossible challenge to meet. Who knows how many extra stuff they will pack into the story. If the game is 400 hours to complete then that will be a really good challenge. It would be cool if there was an option for regular and even harder version to try and complete. Since we know square has put in those insane challenges. Well we will have to see what happens when the game comes out.

The screenshots (prettied up or not) have got me more interested, I remember plaything this as a young kid with my older brother... good times. A friend of mine and I have been talking about it on occasion, showing articles to each other or any videos about it. Both of us are waiting as patiently as possible, but there are plenty of games to play in between them all.

I would like to see an open world played into FF VII remake, smoother transitions of course, but most of all I would like to see the game being played... by myself ha ha, until then I suppose.
