Dark Valefor | |||
HP: | 800,000 | ||
Steal: | X-Potion x2 | ||
Armour Abilities: | Auto-Regen, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | First Strike, Firestrike, Lightningstrike, Waterstrike, Icestrike, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Besaid Village - village entrance
Dark Valefor is the weakest dark aeon, and is called by a summoner at the entrance to Besaid Village. At this point a couple of your characters should have Break HP Limit, Auto-haste and Auto-Phoenix if possible. Break Damage Limit is also strongly recommended. Make sure that all your characters attributes are well into three digits. Dark Valefor often uses the attack "Energy Ray" which inflicts massive damage on your party. Make sure you cast Auto-Life and Shell in time. You should also try to send an aeon into the battle before your opponent's overdrive, and this tactic is useful against the other dark aeons too. |
Dark Ifrit | |||
HP: | 1,400,000 | ||
Steal: | Mega-Phoenix x2
Armour Abilities: | Fire Eater, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Firestrike, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Sanubia Desert - West
From a distance you will spot a woman in the far North of the desert, next to the former passage of the Home of the Al Bhed. Talk to her and agree to look for her child. If you go back to the ravine in the north, the battle should start. Dark Ifrit will counter all attacks, and his own attacks inflict massive damage along with having a Delay effect. When he reaches overdrive shield yourself by using an aeon. It helps if Tidus and Wakka have Break Damage Limit and have mastered the Blitz Ace and Attack Reels Overdrive techniques. |
Dark Ixion | |||
HP: | 1,200,000 | ||
Steal: | Stamina Tablet x2
Armour Abilities: | Lightning Eater, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Lightningstrike, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Thunder Plains - North, near Save Sphere
Dark Ixion uses very powerful Lightning attacks, but you will not be able to counter them by using the corresponding abilities. Dark Ixion will counter each attack with an attack of his own, also causing the Sleep status effect. You can use Dispel to lift Dark Ixion's Full Break effect, but you will find that only the Ribbon offers enough protection. After defeating this aeon once you will find yourself engaged in battle with him again almost immediately. During the second battle Dark Ixion will have lost his ability to counter, although his attacks now cast Confuse and Break, but you should be able to overcome these by having the right abilities equipped. |
Dark Shiva | |||
HP: | 1,100,000 | ||
Steal: | Mana Tablet x2 | ||
Armour Abilities: | Ice Eater, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Icestrike, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Macalania Temple - entrance
Dark Shiva is very quick so make sure your agility is high. Her attacks dispel all positive status effects and also cast Berserk and Confusion. Her Heavenly Strike attack has the Death effect which will even penetrate the Ribbon's protection. Her Overdrive will inflict massive damage on your party. If you manage to win this battle, lots of Guado Guardians will spill out of the temple. Leave Macalania - Road for a short while and then return. Now you will find that you can enter the temple and pick up a few items from the Fayth beyond the Antechamber. |
Dark Bahamut | |||
HP: | 4,000,000 | ||
Steal: | Twin Stars x2 | ||
Armour Abilities: | Auto-Protect, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | One MP Cost, Double AP, Double Overdrive, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Zanarkand Dome - The Beyond
After Dark Shiva, you will find that the difficulty level of the aeons increases again significantly. Use the Monster Arena before this battle to increase your characters' attributes - try to power some of them up to the maximum (255). However high your accuracy figures, some hits will still miss, but Aim will reduce the number of misses. Once Dark Bahamut's Overdrive gauge has increased for the fifth time, he will unleash Impulse which will case Petrification, Slow, Full Break and Delay. Conventional "proof" armour will offer no protection. Casting Auto-Haste can prevent slow. Dark Bahamut will use the Mega Flare overdrive after the Impulse. |
Dark Yojimbo | |||
HP: | 1,600,000 | ||
Steal: | Stamina Tonic x2
Armour Abilities: | Curseproof, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Counter-Attack, Magic Counter, Overdrive > AP, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Cavern of the Stolen Fayth - near Save Sphere
Walk towards the back of the cavern to find Dark Yojimbo. Dark Yojimbo's initial attack is always an Ambush. At least one of your characters should have First Strike equipped on their weapon to ensure that you get the first turn. If you don't do this you may be unlucky enough to run straight into a Wakizashi attack, inflicting 3 x 99,999 HP of damage. Dark Yojimbo's Daigoro attack is able to cast Petrification despite Stoneproof, only Ribbon will offer protection against this status effect. Kozuka inflicts Slow and Full Break, as well as massive amounts of damage. Zanmato has the same effect as Wakizashi and also dispels any protection. You will have to sacrifice an aeon. After you initially win the battle, Dark Yojimbo's summoner will retreat towards the exit. Follow him to start the next battle. From this point on you won't need to worry about being Ambushed. You can save your game in between battles but if you load a saved game, the battle will start again with the first encounter. This means you can keep defeating Dark Yojimbo until you have all the equipment you need. You will only complete this episode when you have recorded five victories in a row. |
Dark Anima | |||
HP: | 8,000,000 | ||
Steal: | Three Stars x2 | ||
Armour Abilities: | Deathproof, Break HP Limit, Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Deathstrike, One MP Cost, Triple AP, Break Damage Limit
Location: | Gagazet - Mountain Gate
Before this battle you will have to complete the first trial in the Mountain Cave again (target throwing with Wakka), but this time the conditions are a lot tougher! Only after you have done this will Dark Anima appear at the entrance to Mt. Gagazet. Her attacks cause Poison, Stone, Zombie and Curse. Pain will cause instant Death, and Mega-Graviton will cause various effects along with damage inflicted on attackers amounting to 7/16 of their maximum HP. To have any chance against Dark Anima you will have to have your characters' attributes up to the maximum, use Aim to score a hit, and sacrifice your aeons. |
Dark Magus Sisters | |||
Name: | Dark Cindy | Dark Sandy | Dark Mindy |
HP: | 3,000,000 | 2,500,000 | 2,000,000 |

Location: | Mushroom Rock - to the south of the turning leading to the valley
Try to defeat one sister at a time. Start with Dark Mindy, as she uses the attack Passado, meaning instant Death. She also has the lowest HP level. Attack Reels and Blitz Ace will come in handy. Dark Sandy's Razzia attack dispels Auto-Life and reduces your defence figure to zero. Dark Cindy's normal attack will lift any protection you have, and her Camisade attack will reduce your defence to zero. If only one of the sisters' Overdrive gauges is full she will be unable to unleash a Delta attack, and instead will use Mega-Graviton, like Dark Anima. You should have Luck levels over 120 for this battle, and your characters should have over 30,000 HP. |
Penance | |||
HP: | 12,000,000 | ||
Steal: | Elixir x1, Dark Matter x1. Rare: Megalixir x1, Master Sphere x1
Armour Abilities: | Ribbon
Weapon Abilities: | Break Damage Limit
Location: | Airship Locations List, after defeating Dark Aeons
Once you have beaten all of the Dark Aeons, the ultimate opponent will appear: Penance. You can select this creature from your Airship's destination list. This battle is the most difficult, you will need Luck levels over 120 and HP levels over 40,000. Your other attributes should be maxed out. It is important to deal with Penance's arms first to prevent him from using Judgement Day. Once you have disposed of these you will have a brief moment to deal with the torso. Overdrives such as Rikku's Hyper Mighty G, Wakka's Attack Reels and Tidus' Blitz Ace are useful when dealing with the arms. If you can manage to, use Healing water to restore HP, Quick Hit to attack the creature's torso and Twin Stars/Three Stars to maximise MP consumption. |
