  1. What can I say? I'm a genius. But yeah, I've put a lot of thought into this choice, my decision may change but it's something I'm very passionate about. I'll also end up helping the parents out just as much as the kids, so we hopefully won't have as many psychopathic parents running around.

I'll figure it out, just takes some trial and error. I'll say again though, it's very much appreciated.
  2. Well I feel like I can learn as much from you as you can from me, so it sounds like there's even more benefits to this friendship than one would have thought! That's a noble career choice, helping out kids and teenagers is making sure we have a mentally stable future generation!

My phone number is (646) 462-4939, but you might need to add a 1 at the start because it sometimes thinks its an international phone because it's some weird dodgy thing that looks like its from the 90s. But man you can call at any time and I'll help out as best I can. I warn you now though that I've been sleeping pretty deeply these past few nights. I'm just so damn exhausted. BUT! Don't let that stop you, I would be happy to help whenever and however I can
  3. , and because they either only get temporary happiness or none at all, they think they need more and more, till they've lost themselves to these misguided pursuits of happiness. (The end of it is my take on it anyway, I've had a lot of time to think it over)
If you haven't guessed yet I want to study psychology to become a child/adolescent counselor when I get older.
I really appreciate the offer, actually I think I'll take you up on your offer for your number, that's usually the time that I would kill for someone to talk to when I snap.
  4. Part 1 (it's... somehow too long.)
Yeah it's one of the core things we discuss in Psychology, relationships and development.
Fun fact: The more you think of something, the neural pathways connecting to that thought are made stronger, which ties into why infatuation works the way it does, and why Pessimists have a hard time looking at the bright side of things. The negative thoughts are fortified, but the positive thoughts are neglected and fragile. You can get yourself to believe anything, you just need dedication.

And I agree with the point that all humans desire happiness above all things, while some may disagree, that so-and-so has this self-destructive behavior... but the people with such behaviors just don't really know exactly how to achieve a healthy bit of happiness. Same goes with people who only desire money or other selfish desires, they think those things will bring them happiness, so they continue to pursue these things
  5. Optimistic mind sets are great. I was talking with mike face about the very same thing this evening and he was insistent that human beings as a species desire one thing above everything else and that is happiness. Great point, too, I feel, and so you shouldn't let negativity get in the way of your natural instinct to continue being awesome and happy. And I'm always available to help a brother out, so hit me up. Hell you can have my cell number if you think you might need to call at 3am or something.
  6. I may take you up on that offer.
The main thing I always need is someone to whine to, I've had a lot of time to think, so I've analyzed every problem and solution, and none of it is that hard to even fix... It's just that I'm trying to combat over a decade of negative conditioning so things don't usually go as planned.
A few of my friends have gladly taken the job of people to complain to.
It's all just a matter of adopting and raising a better mind-set. I need to ditch my old pessimistic mind-set that has always held me back, and take hold of an optimistic mindset that fully uses my stubbornness and dedication. Once I can manage that... well then I have the rest of my life ahead of me.
  7. Getting caught in that apathetic stage isn't fun, and it can really hurt your grades. If you ever wanna chat with me, soundboard any ideas relating to life or school or whatever you need, just hit me up you know? I'm pretty good at listening and I can at least make you feel better if not help the problem directly. Life's a team sport playa
  8. He's insane, but he's quickly rising up as one of my favorite teachers I've ever had.
I'm actually not doing so well in school lately, I've gotten a serious case of "no motivation" because so much of the work is just busy work... I'm terrible at busywork, which is why I really like Civics, the work has a purpose, and I'm not memorizing just to memorize, I'm memorizing to learn.
Gotta say the diversity is amazing, I've gone from Woodshop and Ceramics last year, to Rock Climbing/Film as Literature, to all my psychology classes this year. You can really take classes based on your interests, and my old school had nothing that even came close.
I'm very far behind, and I've been dealing with a lot of emotional stress/drama that I've been trying to work through, but I see everything working out once I get my crap together and get back on track.
  9. That civics teacher sounds kind of awesome actually. You sound like you've got a damn hard semester ahead but I'm sure it'll be interesting enough to keep you hanging in there! It is sad when you think that school is a waste but at least you're learning things now! I just wish we could diversify like you guys do and so I could've studied things that are relevant to what I am doing now.
  10. I'll see what happens. It'll probably be similar.
The strange thing is I'm actually learning some very valuable info. I've got the odd-ball Teacher in Civics that had us turn our books in on the first day because he said "none of that is important, and you won't remember it anyway, so I'm going to actually teach you... and hopefully you choose to learn"
Combine that with Psychology, Psychology and Relationships, and Child and Adolescent development, and you have one crazy semester.
It's sad when I'm surprised that I'm actually learning useful info in school...
