Conversation Between Jiro and The Man

  1. I still post in the riddle threads from time to time, and occasionally I think of a bull thread topic to make and we get another 20 odd posts to the total. But yeah, like you said, there's not a lot of hope that people are even looking at the games any more. Final Fantasy isn't the draw card it once was, and we can't change that.

Remakes seem to bring a small amount of traffic back. The release of FFXIII also made the forum go insane with activity for a little while. I guess even a game everyone hates is still entertaining when there are so many other members playing it. And I guess those Let's Plays of the new games are the only way to really get much out of 'em.
  2. I really can't say that I even care about most Final Fantasy games anymore. The only one I really feel nostalgic enough to post about is FFVI. I suspect a lot of long-time members can get the same way, so I'm not surprised that the FF forums are pretty dead. Besides, after 20 years there's a dearth of things to talk about. Most people who are going to play the games already played them a long time ago. Unless they get remade again, that is.
  3. It's hard for me to judge because I wasn't an active member between 04 and late 06, but I certainly like what we've got. I wouldn't say no to some new members and some extra activity, but the only "dead zones" are the FF forums that are nearing 20 years old.
  4. Man, Nait, there's one name I haven't heard in what seems like forever. But yeah, it's definitely not as active as it used to be. On the other hand I think it's a lot better that way. To be honest at this place's most active I found a lot of what got posted to be pretty boring. The place is more laid-back now and the quantity of posted material seems to be higher. I like both developments for obvious reasons.
  5. We've certainly had a bit of inactivity, but at the moment there seems to be a mini-boom. I hesitate to call it that considering the difference between now and even a couple years ago, but it's good to see people still alive and kicking. We occasionally get some long term members coming back after BoB's emails. Nait was here not too long ago xD
  6. Being on staff would help one maintain interest I'm sure. And yeah it's a fairly great community. It's also a lot more active than most of the other boards I post at. Though that's also part of the reason I don't stay active constantly. It gets to be too much effort to keep up with it sometimes.
  7. It's because the people are awesome imo. And also because the staff are idiots and gave me a job
  8. Yeah that's a pretty good analogy. Definitely a lot better than a bunch of other message boards I've been to, which I left and never felt any desire to return to.
  9. It's almost like a drug. Sure you can go cold turkey for a while but then you get the cravings and they whip your ass.
  10. Yeah I got kind of bored without this place.
