No. You're an NPC. You give out some handy information and clever foreshadowing for an upcoming boss. It's not really a traditional RPG with a focus on story or anything - the story is an excuse plot and the only battles are boss battles, with tons of jokes sprinkled around. The bosses are pretty much the only characters to get some characterization, but it's still mostly silly.

The mention of the Wild Hunt put me in mind of it. It deals a lot with various mythologies from different cultures, and handles them all really well. There is a Wild Hunt that shows up in a couple of the books. I was wondering if it's related. Also handles religion in general really, really well. The Warrior (a short story in the series) is the best piece of Christian fiction I've read since C. S. Lewis.
