Probably. You'll also feel right at home because it has a rape scene. But it's ok because she really wanted it! On that note, when you read anything by Rand, just try to ignore her horribly perverse and disturbing view of a healthy sexual relationship.
Does it have the word "nipple" in it? I have a new rule that I don't read books that don't contain that word.
Way back when I was first joining LJ, I joined a bunch of groups based on books I was reading at the time, including an SoT one. A while ago some newbie posted on it asking if there was a lot of rape in the books. And I laughed and laughed... FotF is an anomaly in the series, I agree. I think it's more so because Goodkind just copied the style and just made a fantasy-ish story about the the template of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, which is a great book that you should read.
Oh good, more rape. There hasn't been much lately and I missed it. I am convinced that, like, Goodkind's wife wrote FotF. During the day she fawns over him, and then at night she works like a little shoe gnome.
The best is yet to come, too. In Phantom (two books later), Richard is given a very extensive, detailed vision that went on for pages and pages, and which is mostly about the conditions of the Order camp (women being raped, etc.). Literally just after that vision ends, a new person is introduced who tells her story... about what the Order soldiers were doing, relating THE SAME DAMN THINGS. For another 10 pages. I wanted to scream at the book "WE GET IT BY NOW WE KNEW THIS WAS HAPPENING 5 BOOKS AGO!" And the last three books are also filled with more speeches. There's no real dialogue or story development to show a point (like FotF did remarkably well) -- that is all replaced by speech upon speech. It is mind-numbing.
I skipped that entire monologue. In fact, I'm skipping pretty much anything that goes on longer than two paragraphs. I knew it was going to be bad, but I didn't imagine it could be this goddamn bad. xP
Haha, I warned you that Naked Empire is terrible. I think the worst part was near the beginning when Jennsen asked Kahlan why making a rash decision is so bad, and Kahlan goes on a multi-page monologue about the evilness of the Order. It was mouth-gapingly random and terrible writing. The book doesn't get any better, either, as the ending may even be the worst part. Hell, the entire series doesn't get any better.
I didn't know visitor messages had a text limit... Anyway. I also haven't used Ninjavideo in awhile anyway. They were apparently having a problem with their ads giving people viruses... right at the same time I switched to Chrome and before I installed AdBlock, so I got it. So I wasn't using them. So I've just been using Hulu, Netflix, Demonoid, and SurfTheChannel when I'm desperate. There's also VuReel but SurfTheChannel lists those in its directory anyway.
