That's a wonderful way to spin it. xD
god no wonder I seem to have superhero levels of empathy
I read about a study that resulted in the implication that as one became more powerful - in any sense; politically, socially, financially etc. - they became less aware of the consequences of their actions and generally less empathetic. It appears that power genuinely does corrupt and make people into assholes a lot of the time. xD
That's one decision you'll have to make. Not sleeping whenever I can is something I try and do Massive Open Online Course is a MOOC. Think duolingo or Khan Academy and also more structured nonsense like they offer through universities. I have to figure out how to make the content and framework fun and engaging so the attrition rate of like 80% is not so high. I don't know why there are always idiots in power but at least it means one day I could be that high up 'cause I'm clevererererer?
Yeah, that is a great feeling. But is it worth not sleeping for an extra six hours? DECISIONS. What's a MOOC? And what does being a fun engineer entail? Also, why is it that everyone has troutty superiors? xD
Yeah, I hate being awake of a morning but it does feel very productive to do something and then be like "ugh, what's the time" and realise it's not even midday and you can do whatever you want for hours. I'm working as a research assistant at the uni currently which has me employed as a "gamification expert" (though I like to say "fun engineer") and it is pretty ridiculous but enjoyable. My team is great. Our superiors are rubbish. Looking forward to putting out a solid grammar MOOC though. I have high hopes. Gotta start pitching more gaming articles 'cause I've been a bit lazy but that's going well too. Other than that, just applying for other gigs to try and snag something nice.
Thanks very much! Yeah, it's tough, but it goes by very quickly. And it's nice to get the majority of my hours out the way in one go. I only teach one hour on Wednesday morning, 90 minutes on Thursday morning and a couple hours of fun activities on Fridayt afternoon (which takes more bloody preparation and planning that the weekends! xD). I like having the morning stuff, because it forces me to spend my days awake and actually doing stuff, as opposed to sleeping in. How about your workstuffs? Any good times to be had there?
Climate change ain't nothing but a thang. Congrats on the successful move and new contract! Big hours over the weekend is real rough, but having all that free time will let you get out and see stuff as well as relax in preparation and as recovery from those intense weekends. Glad you're having a great time over there, dude
Somerset - my home county - recently got completely submerged. Rough stuff, floods. Adult stuff is indeed wanky-ballachery. It can be frustrating as all hell. I've just moved into my new city here in China - Zunyi - and have started work on my new 18 month contract. Wooooo! I work almost 24 hours over the course of Saturday and Sunday, which is rough, but my weekdays are basically empty, which is very not-rough!
Wet. I think our annual floods are here. They're late, though. I've been keeping busy but man being an adult is stressful. Applying for jobs and working and studying and trying not to have panic attacks takes a lot out of you. Suppose it could be worse? How're you doing? I don't even know if you're still lost in China or what.
