Conversation Between Fynn and Wolf Kanno

  1. Well, if the reactions of the leakers are anything to go by, it’s wrapped up pretty well. But we can’t know for sure until it’s out. Even judging by just the trailers, though, the story bits specifically seem to all be leading to one point. I’m honestly kind of annoyed that this game looks to be pretty much a conclusion to something we already knew was happening - so basically, I’m annoyed the non-numbered games were there to build stuff up and we’re left with just a payoff. So it’s more like, I expect this to be like the end of the Freeza arc in DBZ, if there were some side episodes teasing the Android arc before that concluded.
  2. Not right away, I'll probably wait until it's used and cheap. In addition to losing interest in the story, I honestly just don't have the same nostalgia factor for the 3D Disney worlds featured in the game. I mean Monster's Inc is nice, but I honestly don't really have a lot of love for Pixar or the 3D Disney film studios like I did for the Disney Renaissance era or older films. So it's not even like the game worlds are enticing for me either. I'm also estranged from most of my die hard KH fan friends (aside from you of course) who eventually talked me into playing 3D when I was still iffy about the series. So I don't really feel the need to jump on the bandwagon. I'm simply happy it's getting released so I can stop having to listen to the whiners online. Same as I'll feel when the VIIR gets released.

As for the plot. I never felt like KHIII wasn't going to end Xehanort's story. I know it will, but I can't help feel like a lot of the plot and his reasoning to do what he did is simply going to open up the cosmological can of worms that is the Keyblade War. In essence, I feel like KHIII will end the Xehanort story, much like KHII ended the conflict with the original Org. XIII. Like it will end the story line, but a good chunk of the plot is going to be creating all of the new mysteries for the next story arc. I feel fans will walk away from the gaming with more questions than answers. That's not even me being pessimistic or derogatory, I simply know that's how Nomura operates as he's stated he purposely leaves behind loose ends in his plots for the fans. Since he's recently revealed that he's been the main writer since KHII, and that mantra has been part of the franchises DNA since the first game, it stands to reason that KHIII isn't really going to end neatly.
  3. I think III actually will wrap up the Dark Seeker saga while χ is just building up for what will come after. I’m pretty sure III’s secret ending will have a lot of χ flavor for this reason

Out of curiosity, after all the hurt caused by 3D, are thinking of getting III?
  4. Everything I've read about coded made it look weird. as for Chi, that's actually one of the games I feel points to my feelings that KHIII is likely going to be spending a lot of time setting up the next arc, because Chi is already kind of doing that.
  5. coded is really weird, like, even by series standards. The mobile game, however, is cool for a mobile game, but I really, really wish the content in it weren't in a mobile game because it's actually interesting stuff, unlike coded
  6. I have too many mobile games I don't play consistently enough to drag a new one in. As for coded, eh, I'm interested enough to bother.
  7. Happy to hear that! Means I've fulfilled my goal. You can always try the mobile game in the meantime
  8. That's perfectly fine. I've been busy with work related things to even work on the project proper myself or get my artist on board who seems to be drawing everything, but what I want.

I am also well aware of how time consuming these retrospectives can be. I still need to write up the one for FFV. On the brightside, your retrospective has inspired me to finally go through the HD collection I own, though I'm missing part 2. It's been over a decade since I played KH1 and CoM. Course I'm finishing up RS2 first.
  9. Btw, sorry I'm not done with your editing yet. I've made myself busy with this retrospective and it's honestly consumed the last shreds of my free time, but just two more days and I'm done and can get back to your thing.
