Sam just isn't a dick. I mean sure the ring is supposed to be corrupting Frodo but how the smurf can you just dog Sam like that? The humble gardener is one of the most heroic characters in the entire thing because he damn well does his job. "Don't you leave him, Samwise Gamgee" Gandalf said, and he doesn't mean to.
