I remember EVA and Robotech being my first loves of the genre, not counting a brief stint with Voltron and Power Rangers as a kid.
Yeah I do agree with that. As a teen, I was exactly the right age to get super pumped by it, so I have good memories, but it’s not like I think it’s really anything amazing nlw
You'll have to let me check it out at the time. I think my issue was that a lot of people I knew at the time of it's release were obsessed with it and kind of talked it up more than I felt it really deserved. I enjoyed it, but I don't don't consider it special is all.
I see if more as a love letter to the genre and while I don’t really think about it a lot, I enjoyed it quite a bit at the time. Still, he’s mostly handling the art while I’m handling the writing. So expect sci fi drama and existentialism
I could never bring myself to love Gurren Lagaan. It's cute, but there are better parody series out there, like Dual!: Parallel Worlds.
To be fair, some series do both, I mean EVA is technically a Super Robot series but is told like a Real Robot series. MGS started as a Real Robot series before turning all Super Robot from MGS2 and beyond.
Like, my favorite giant robot thing is Xenogears, his is Gurren Lagann. This could go in strange directions
I wanna say Super Robot, but you know me. Nothing is ever straightforward with me
Real Robot or Super Robot?
Awesome. I should be able to finish by then. Btw, my brother and I are thinking of making a Humongous Mecha comic. Should be fun.
