Recently had a publisher show some interest in my 50 Shades analysis, so I'm working like a mad woman on trying to get that manuscript as finished as possible for them.

No problem. Make sure if that doesn't work you aren't too shy - being an attention whore is sometimes the only way to cut through the many, many people who are trying to make a name for themselves.
So I've decided I'm just gonna follow people and complement them, maybe mention I do some writing or something, so that I don't come off as such an attention whore Anyway, thanks for showing me the ropes and for being patient with me. A good way of doing it is just to say who you are, what sort of writing you do and that you follow back. Then follow back anyone who follows you. A lot of people will jump at the chance to gain another follower to their own writing blog. If they aren't interested, they'll just delete the message and forget about it in 30~ seconds, so don't stress.
I actually feel kinda nervous about just asking people to follow me on tumblr. Do you think I can just ask people, like the writers whose stories you post, to reblog and follow just like that? Or is there some etiquette that says I should reblog first? I was never really good at social media
I approve of your wild tagging. I do a lot of picture writing prompts on mine because I like having pictures to break up the text, so that's how I make it look more interesting. You can always look through tags and find some writing quote graphics to break things up too.
