Conversation Between Karifean and Wolf Kanno

  1. Honestly, DS has a pretty rocking OST. Maybe not anime stylish but still stylish. Course I'm really bias with gothic style music and choral chanting. Course there are some Souls fans who feel it would be cool to be a bit more like anime.

I'm going to do a much longer entry for the next Let's Play. Try to get up to the second world and move this along a bit faster. Mostly, I'm replaying for the retrospective article. I kind of want to get to VII before the remake hits.
  2. Yeah been thinking about getting into Dark Souls for a while, I'd probably enjoy it quite a bit, though I admittedly far prefer anime aesthetic with hype music (like this) over that dark and gritty medieval aesthetic Dark Souls has. It's like how games like Touhou would be entirely unplayable for me if they didn't have the visuals and music they have. That's what has been turning me off the series for now. But I still guess I owe it to myself to give it a chance at least.

Looking forward to more FFV from you ^^
  3. Yeah, mostly retro gaming, though FFV is both for the Let's Play, and I finally started the retrospective article on it.

I believe so. Its been ages since I played the updated version of the game. I'm pretty old school with CT and usually play it on my SNES. The secret boss ties into Chrono Cross btw.

If you're looking for exhilarating action, perhaps you should give Dark Souls a try?

  5. Aah, blasts from the past I see ^^ I actually just booted up Ys: Oath of Felghana back up myself (I kinda started Chrono Trigger when I was at the final dungeon of that game) and promptly got reminded of what a brutal and unforgiving game it is. There's something to be said about games where you can go for 15-30 minutes of pure constant action gameplay and get several levelups without a save point in sight, they're exhilarating as all hell, but also do get frustrating for sure, ha.

Up to fixing the Masamune in my NG+ for now btw. Still a while before I can access them but I hear the three new vortex dungeons actually lead to an alternate final boss battle?
  6. I'm bouncing back between KH: Birth by Sleep, FFV, and Suikoden 1, with a possible attempt at finishing Tactics Ogre on the PSP as well.
  7. Sounds fun. What've you been playing lately?
  8. I believe it's just the shell, but he does put you in a bad spot cause I don't think you get the save point when you enter him, and your party will be quite battered after the shell. His "Destruction Rains from the Heavens" attack will knock like 2/3rds of your health from a party with max health.
  9. Yeah I heard the Ocean Palace version has far increased stats? Does that apply to all of its forms or just the shell?
  10. If you know what you're doing, he's pretty easy to beat in NG+ his hardest battle is either tackling him with Crono solo or when you face him at the Ocean Palace where he kills Crono.

As for Frotz, it's not so much a special scene, just some foreshadowing. You talk to his father in the shop, and you can meet his wife at the pier. It's just some little details I've always liked about the game.
