Conversation Between Lyndis Highwind and Scruffington

  1. Happy new year to you too, Victoria I hope you do as well.

Yeah, Ocarina of Time really does have a great OST in general too. I've noticed that a lot of the 3D Mario and Zelda games just have tons of heart in their soundtracks. That must be one of the reasons why I love those series so much. Nintendo really does know how to make magic.

What game is Lyndis from? It is a pretty cool combination though, because it combines two of your favorite series.
  2. Happy New Year! Hope you have a great 2017!

Ha ha, okay. I didn't really mind the redone OST, but yes I do prefer the original as well.
Oh yes , the Ocarina staff roll song is beautiful! So much nostalgia and memories.

Ha ha, it's funny how nicknames change over time. The nickname that I grew up with has many different variations as well.
The "Highwind part of my name is mainly after Kain Highwind from IV, and the "Lyndis" part is after one of my favorite Fire Emblem characters. Probably not the most original alias, but I like it :P.
  3. Oh I do have the DS version of IV and III. I just HATE the music on the DS version. That was the main reason I went out and bought the PSX version. I need that classic OST. :P

Runetunes definitely has some really chill music. The first song you recommended me seemed to have the same sort of ambiance and used some similar instruments. I thought it was cool.

Yeah. All of the Zelda games have stellar soundtracks. I still think either Ocarina of Time or Skyward Sword have the best OST out of the series. Twilight Princess has a few fantastic tracks, but I think OoT and SS are truly incredible from start to finish. Every time I hear the Staff Roll theme from Ocarina of Time, I tear up because of how beautiful it is.

I used to play mafia on another forum years ago. I grew up with the nickname Scruffy (the first part of my last name is similar), and that was my alias on the forum. In one particular game, there was a dude that kept referring to me as "Mr. Scruffington." He was the only person to do it and I found it hilarious. So I decided to stick with the "Scruffington" name permanently.

How about yours? I can guess that the 'Highwind' part is from Final Fantasy, but what about the Lyndis part?
  4. I recommend the DS version of IV though once you play the original. I prefer the original, but the DS one has some neat features that help develop the characters more.

I listened to some of the songs from Runescape, and I see what you mean. They both have the same medieval feel to them.

Yes , I agree the soundtrack is very nice. I really can't decide which Zelda has my favorite soundtrack though. When I was younger, I would listen to the Twilight Princess soundtrack all the time, so it would be a hard choice between that one and Skyward Sword.

And also, random question, how did you get your username?
  5. Oh you have it on PSX too? That's cool. I got that one mostly for FFIV because the DS version is a remake with the music and graphics redone. I wanted an experience more close to the original. I don't think they remade Chrono Trigger for the DS in the same way, so I'll get to experience both games in their original form which is cool.

I listened to a few themes, and I have to say I was getting some...Runescape vibes. At least from the first tune you recommended me. Runescape had a pretty chill soundtrack so that's a good thing haha.

Oh yeah, the controls aren't as bad as people make them out to be. Skyloft is great as a hub world. I actually think that Skyward Sword has the best story and probably the best soundtrack in the series as well. It also has one of my favorite pieces of music in all of gaming.
  6. Yep, we have the same bundle. That's actually how I discovered FF IV too (also one of my favorite games).

Cool! I can't wait to know what you think of them.

I like it a lot so far. I've been able to get the hang of the controls pretty well this time around. I'm just about to fight the boss of the first temple. And Skyloft has got be one of my favorite video game towns. It's so happy and peaceful.
  7. Yeah I've had this copy of Chrono Trigger laying around for ages. The one that was bundled with FFIV. I plan on playing through a bunch of older FFs and Chrono Trigger next year

I'll definitely check them out sometime today if I can!

What do you think about Skyward Sword so far? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it every now and then :P
  8. Oh, okay. I played Chrono Trigger on the DS, but I remember watching my sister play it on the PS1 and I remember the load times being pretty bad.

Well, honestly I like just about every song on the CC soundtrack, but here are some of my favorites:
"When the Northern Sky is Clear" "Sad Monster" "Unite, Descent" "Thoroughly Blue" and "Echoes at the Mountain Peak". Let me know what you think of them!

Due to your high recommendation, I started Skyward Sword over again yesterday! I'm just about to leave for the surface for the first time in the game.
  9. Does it? I'll be playing it on my PS3 so it shouldn't be too big an issue And I have patience anyways.

Galaxy really does have a great soundtrack. I think it really demonstrated how music can both tell a story and match the gameplay. And wow, that's super cool that you think of CC's music as being that good. I think I definitely have to listen to it now. Are there any themes from the game that stand out to you?

Haha. I like too much music to narrow it down to just one song. There are so many good themes out there like Stickerbrush Symphony (DKC2) and Zelda's Lullaby (Skyward Sword). Can't just pick one. :P
  10. You'll have to let me know what you think of Chrono Trigger too when you play it! But I have to warn you though, the PS1 version has bad load times..

Yes, I agree that Mario Galaxy has an amazing soundtrack. Both the Mario Galaxies do. I was just playing Skyward Sword today and I noted that it also has a nice soundtrack. But my favorite game OST has to be either Chrono Trigger or Crystal Chronicles. It's a really hard choice, but I think I'll go with Crystal Chronicles.
Do you have a favorite video game song?
